Help me with this problem in driving standard?

Ok I'm learning how to drive stick i didn't learn how to drive auto I started from standard
so its my 5th day and I 'm already drving in the streets but when I'm switch gears it doesn't make that smooth instant change in the engine i know it has to do with me pressing gas or not letting go of clutch fast enough
one of those too
any help???

oh and here and there when i stop in a stop sign and go into first gear it doesn't do that smooth sound

any techniques or advice would be nice thank you

To the last part of your question, sounds like you going into first gear too soon. The car must be at fairly slow speeds before a shift into first gear is smooth and quiet.

You really have to pay attention to driving when your car is equipped with a manual transmission.
You will be a better driver once you master driving and shifting.

Friendly Stranger..
I actually drive a standard. I learned how to drive a stick when I was first learning to drive just like you. Driving a manual isn't all that hard as many think. The main advice I can give you that I was taught is to never force anything. What do I mean by this? When you are shifting gears, it should be a smooth transition. If you are having to force it, that means you are not letting the mechanisms in the system work properly. You should never have to force your shifting motions. You must let the shifting come naturally. It should fall in place when you shift. Take your time and do it step by step. Also if you hear any grinding sounds then that means you did not fully shift into that gear. Mainly the whole point I'm stressing is to shift the gears properly by letting it fall in line. If it is in the correct shifting motion you will never have to force anything.

You'll learn. Think about this, the gear box allows you to change the relation between the revolutions of the engine axle and the revolutions of the wheel axle.
Let's say that you're in first (don't pay much attention to the numbers because I'm making them up, they may or may not reflect the relations in your case, just look at the concept) going at 1500 rpm and 20 Km/h. The relation is 75 to 1. Second is 50 to 1, so to match the speed of 20 Km/h you have to set your engine to 1000 rpm.
So, when you're shifting up, you have to ease on the gas. When shifting down it depends on the situation but the concept is the same.
If you keep your rpm high when you shift up, your car is going to try to keep up with it (it will put a lot of strain in your clutch). I you go down too much, the engine will actually slow down the car. It's useful when you want to slow down or to break when your breaks fail.

Sounds like you need a new clutch. Might not be you at all.
