How Could I Be Extra Cautious Around Motorcycles?

I Almost Hit One Again. They Are Small And I Don't Always See Them.

The dude with the skull has got it right.
You need to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

The advice concerning music...............that guy's gonna kill someone.
The swerving because of potholes statement is BS.
Riders are taught to change lane position often to enhance our chance of not being ignored.
Motorcycle headlights have been locked "ON" by Federal law since 1979 - so you can see us.

I've heard "I didn't see him" myself, as I was picking my sore self up off the tar.
Truth is, she didn't even look (and I couldn't avoid).

It's not just motorcycles, you have to train yourself to be more vigilant, and alert towards everything on the road. Go slower if that's what it takes. Because if you aren't seeing motorcycles, you're probably also missing the bicyclists and the pedestrians. And as a pedestrian, I worry about that.

Not a valid excuse - if you don't see them you are not paying attention to your surroundings. Suggest that work real hard on that one - peoples lives depend on it !! Like mine !!

always be aware of your surroundings in a car, it shouldn't matter if you're looking for a motorcycle or not. if you find yourself drifting off, or looking at the radio, or reading every billboard on the horizon you're not being attentive to your driving. whenever you drive you should always look for things to avoid hitting, and ways to avoid hitting objects you can't see due to obstructions. leave yourself a way out, either left, right, or dead ahead in case something unforeseen happens. maybe next time you don't notice something it'll be a child in a parking lot, or running to catch a school bus. basically just figure out what is distracting you and get rid of it. if you skip constantly between songs, or radio stations, plug in your iPod and listen to a play list that you won't want to skip around on. if you don't have the capability of hooking up an iPod, or don't have one, burn CDs, a new one every week will keep your eyes on the road, and off of the "skip/seek" button. if it's sheer boredom, again, play songs you actually like to hear, techno/trance actually makes traffic seem bearable to me, but you might drive better when listening to Jazz or Blues, who knows? if you really want to be attentive to motorcycles, listen for them. you can do this several ways, i typically roll my window down, even with my music loud i can hear a motorcycle that's close enough for me to hit, or get in the way of. if none of this helps, just imagine how what you are about to do might affect everybody around you in traffic, not just motorcycles, in the end you'll find that you hold up traffic less, cause less road rage, and tend to not get flipped off/honked at as much. plus you'll have avoided countless accidents and potentially saved lives.

When you are driving near motorcycles, give them plenty of space. Don't try and share a lane with a motorcycle.

Also, keep your eye out for motorcycles because they are harder to see.

Motorcycles also shift their position frequently. That's due to potholes in the road and other road conditions.

Also keep in mind that motorcycles have shorter stopping distances and that can affect you too...
