How Many Feet Do You Measure For This?

I just put in a new driveway & of course the approach & sidewalk. I know that there needs to be a yellow painted curb so vehicles do not park so close to the entrance of my driveway. This of course is to allow me more visibility when backing out. Does anyone know how many feet needs to be painted on the curb so others will not park in that area? My town officials have no idea... can you believe this!

No No! I am trying to find out so I can TELL the officials here the proper feet to paint. I am NOT the one who would be painting it!

I do know that the Highway Traffic Act where I live (Alberta Canada), states that no vehicle may park within 1.5 meters (5 ft), from any entrance to a driveway, back lane, or parking lot.
Im not sure about the paint though.

I doubt you can do this. You are talking about enforcing a parking scheme on a city street to help you get out of your private residence. Seems like the only people that could do this would be the city/county/state, since they control the city street. You also probably don't actually have control of the curb or sidewalk, you have to take care of them but they are actually public property (great double standard).

If you could demonstrate a problem in your area then you could probably get the city to paint your curbs and enforce it, but if its a private residence I doubt it (they would have to do it for everyone then)

If this is a business and you have a real reason to block of the area (you have trucks or something), then I think for sure the city would do this for you....if you asked
