How can i put airbags into the handlebar of my Bicycle?

im trying to teach my dog how to ride a bike and i am concerned for his safety so i want to put airbags in just incase. i heard it saves lives in accidents.

Why not just get a big hunk of foam rubber and wrap the dog up in it?...........hahahaha

remove the handlebars and replace them with a steering wheel with airbag. Also install 3 point shoulder harness with seat belt,muzzle,and helmet. To top it off have him wear hard toe boots. this should keep him safe.

A serious answer to an amusing question: I visited the Transport and Road Research Laboratory (as it was then called) at Crowthorne in England in 1989.

Amongst the interesting developments shown was an airbag system for motorcycles.

The airbag was fitted in front of the rider and on top of the fuel tank. The videos I saw showed how, in a typical m/cycle-car accident where the car pulls out from a side tturning in front of the m/cycle, the rider tends to head butt the side of the car at about the level of the roofline - not a 'soft' part of the car.

The airbag had the effect of lifting the rider so that he landed on top of the car, which is relatively 'soft', thus avoiding potential serious head and neck injuries.

I do not know how the research on this continued - if anyone knows the current situation, I would be interested to know.
