How dangerous is it to drive with a flat tire?

a rear flat tire on the interstate at 70+ miles. not intentionally but if you hadn't noticed it.

Very dangerous. Also, you'll probably damage your rim.

If you have a flat tire at 70+ and aren't aware of it, please do the world a favor and surrender your license IMMEDIATELY. You are far too dangerous to be allowed behind the wheel of a car.

first of all, you will screw up your rim which will be more expensive than just a tire to replace.

secondly, it endangers you and other people because you don't have complete control of the vehicle.

trust me,,,,,i KNOW

Never drive on a flat or severely deflated tire -- this will crush the sidewall and destroy the tire. It can even irreparably damage the wheel, especially if it’s an alloy wheel.

Trust me, going that fast you would notice it. Its impossible not to notice it. The only thing you could be talking about is losing air at a slow rate of speed. But if its completely flat you can tell when your riding on a rim...

you can kill the rim and rotor, and that will chew the St. up you cant stop or turn....

youd notice it immediately, a flat on the highway can drive your car out of control and smack dab infront of another car, and could possibly kill you or the occupants of the other car. not to mention your rim would be killed.

If you don't panic and slow gradually and move to the side, probably not very. Funny, my frequent date had exactly that happen 2 weeks ago. The problem becomes serious and expensive if you don't get over as fast as safely possible. If you lose the tire carcass, you are down on the rim, so you lose all traction and a lot of control on that corner. The resulting wheel damage and possibly more can get really spendy fast.

well if it blew out u would notice it, so I am going to asume that it is a slow leak, a low profile tire, is not as bad as a normal tire, this is how much rubber is between the rim and the outside of the tire. A normal tire would have more rubber, this would cause a greater difference in size, this can cause problems to ur drivetrain. Either way is going to wreck ur rim. Then when the tire shreads this may cause damage to ur fenderwell. But, unless ur driving agressively it should not adversly affect ur driving, I have drove many miles on a flat at 60 miles an hour and never noticed. If u had to swerve suddenly the lack of traction at that wheel, could cause u to spin out of control. I hope this info has helped.

if you make the wrong move you could flip your car. Don't hit the brake just let it coast to a stop.

If it's damaged your wheel spool it will cost a fortune to repair, almost the same price as a used car

How can you drive? The car will pull you to one side. In fact that is when you normally notice you have a flat tyre.

havock_vatshal
there is no griping on the road and the car has a chance to skit.

If you didn't notice it...then it's not to dangerous..but most accidents in my area are from speed and flats and overcorrecting....when a person gets a flat they tend to step on the brake, something they shouldn't do....just let your foot off the gass and concentrate on the steering.....the car will slow to a stop...braking could lock up the car and send you careening into a wall or other vehicle.
