An object in motion tends to remain in motion unless acted on by an outside source.
The person and the car are going down the road at 65 and hit something. The car stops, the person continues to travel at 65 until he hits something. If that something is the windshield or the steering wheel, or the pavement, much damage happens to the person.
If a big air bag opens and holds the person steady at the moment of impact, and then deflates, there is much less damage.
No website, just information from the way things are. |

The air bag inflates on impact making the are softer when the body hits it. So instead of hitting a hard steering wheel, you hit a cushioned inflated bag. |
