I'm thrilled to bits - there's a flippin horrible streetlight right outside my bedroom window - I'll be able to sleep with my curtains open and see the moon. I do love that.
And I have a torch. |

I don't understand if they turn of at night. Den where does our safety *** into this??

I think as long as they stay on til say midnight, so that people coming home late don't have any problems, then it's a good idea. Switching the lights off Between midnight and 6am would save vast amounts of energy. |

taxed till i die,

Not happy about it.The tax will carry on going up. |

doesn't bother me any. If there are no lights on the crooks will need flashlights making them visible< |

IRON MAN

It wouldn't bother me - providing the 10% remaining lights are the ones in my street.

I drive down unlit roads so do not see why it is an issue. When you drive at night, you are driving with reduced vision anyway. Think about it. Then with the appropriate caution it should not be an issue.
Are there any definitive studies into accidents and crime relating to street lighting? Probably nothing recently.
Plus I can get more out of my scope with less light pollution. |

Council tax will probably go up to cover the cost of contracting someone out to go around and flick the switches!
I don't see why they don't have solar panels fitted on the top so they can charge in the day? |

I think it would be a great idea, as long as it wouldn't compromise the safety of the young and old. |

I got wood

I'd like to see them fitted with motion sensors like on that honda advert |

it's just an excuse to try to adjust expenses after loosing huge amounts in iceland bank. Car crime will go through the roof. people in general will be unsafe on the streets, children will be in greater danger and gangs will flourish, burglars will be happy. Not a good decisson. |

It would be a great idea if there were no vehicles traveling about and every one was inside - like under a curfew. That way only police and thieves and lawbreakers would be out and about. |

switching off the street lights is not the solution for reducing council tax.

They should at least attempt to make it every other light or something.... ive walked through areas with no lights on, pitch black... its impossible to see... |
