Allowing only doctors, law enforcement & emergency personnel. BTW: When I was working on the road I came close to getting killed many times cos some idiot wasn't paying attention to his/her driving

For oxymandia: True, but they aren't strict enough. Only about 2 states have really good laws banning cell phones

I think it should be inforsed better, anything to distract a driver is dangous, putting on makeup, eating, kids not in child seats, pets, people ignoring stopping first before turning right on red, cellphone use in moving car |

I'm guilty of talking on the phone while driving, but I do believe that there should be a law that only people can talk on the phone when there is an true emergency. The roads will be a lot safer for everyone. |

I would support it as law. It should be enforced by having a officer ask for and examine a cell or telephone device in the car or on the person stopped. Chicago has this law. |

I've seen too many people talking on cells and not paying attention to what's up ahead, or forever hitting their brakes while talking-and nothing's in front of them or if they're texting, their head bobs up and down. I'm outta there.
Sometimes I can tell if a person in front of me is on their cell just by the way they're driving, i.e., sometimes on one side of the road, then the other. I'm outta there.

Several states already have such laws. They don't have the exceptions you mention, and they shouldn't. Hang up and drive. |

It's a great idea! I am a strong proponent of it. It is very dangerous and should be banned everywhere for everyone, no exceptions! People shouldn't get distracted while driving. |

studies have shown that texting and talking on the phone while driving is MORE dangerous and causes more accidents than DWI does. it should be banned. no emergency allowance, they are no safer driving like that than any other person.
the restrictions and punishments should be the same as DWI/DUI since the reprecussions and dangers are the same. |
