How do you feel about drivers on hand held cell phones?

Driving requres total concentration.. cell phone s sterios even others in the car are bad. This why we have graduated licences in some areas. I drove for 50 years and taught drivers ed for 25 years. now i let transit get me out.

I feel really scare as they only have one hand on the wheel while the other hand is holding the hand phone. If he needs to make a turn, he will not have the full control of the wheel using both hand and an accident may occur. This is irresponsible behaviour. I hope they will implement heavier penalty for those who do not use hand phone headset while driving.

well i can honestly say that i dont like it because i got hit by a stupid driver on a cell phone on December 15, 2006 now we are still trying to get the car fixed and he is missing in action. noone knows where he is at so he can be contacted

I feel more scared with people blabing on their phone while they drive. I mean isn't driving a 2,000 pound thing hard enough. Now put the variable of a cell phone! It's phsycotic behavior for a responsible adult.

I wish thy would make it a law that if you talk on a cell phone you get fined 500. That way it would keep the nit wits in there place.

It needs to be illegal. You cannot concentrate on traffic around you when talking or even listening. It's gotta go! There should be phones built into cars that can only access 911. THAT's the right use of a cell phone.Emergency!

I think you should not be able to use a hand held cell phone, it is to distractive and your hands are not free to react.

The person driving and talking on the phone is not only putting his life in danger but also the lives of other people. It should be against the law in all states. Why can't people wait until they are parked somewhere to talk to another person? Nothing can be that important.

It depends on the person, whether he or she can multitask. As a pilot, I have to maintain headings, glide slopes during instrument landings, airspeed, talk to air traffic control, look at approach charts, and go through a checklist all at the same time. I think I can handle a cell phone while driving. Not everyone can do it, though.

I feel that should ban them. But it would be hard for some one to get pulled over by a Town Cop or a State trooper when 9 out of 10 times I pass one of them there on there cell phones while driving. I think they need to start focusing on cell phone use while driving like they have done with seat belt use. They pull you over all the time for no seat belt why don't they start pulling people over for cell phone use. Including Police Officer.

Please don't anybody compare the training and experience of a pilot, who also has to be well rested, fit, and proven sober before he is allowed to fly, to the average driver on the road. Drivers, as a group, cannot multi-task safely, and those that believe they can show little respect for the lives and property of others on the road. And that doesn't even take into account the fact the multiple tasks a pilot balances are tied in to the operation of his aircraft. Ordering a pizza, making a movie date, or yakking about the party the night before have nothing to do with the operation of a motor vehicle.

I just feel scared when they go charging to a pedistian or another car. If they talk on cell phone, they shouldn't be driving. They should pull over to the side and then use the cell phone. I just don't understand why many people would do that.
