Eventually you get used to knowing where your wheels are. Drive somewhere that you leave tracks for a better idea or set up some paper cups and try running them over.

Get you a Curb Feeler at you local parts store and have it installed on the right side front wheel well right at the bottom side of the car between the front of the door and the back of the wheel area.... this will make a horrible scraping sound when you get to close to the curb and let you know before you damage your wheel and tire...

Lance
For now, from the drivers seat look out of the windshield at the center of the hood. When that ''lines up'' with the curb you are good. That is why cars always had hood ornaments (they weren't just ornamental).

most states have the same standard: you must park within 18 inches from the curb, and parallel, to be considered properly parked

when you hit it, you are close enough
