How does the Renault, driver foot well system operate on collision impact?

The Renault Laguna 2003 had a 5* Euro Ncap rating. Could someone explain how the driver footwell controls ie. clutch brake etc are drawn, on impact away from the lower legs of the driver ?

i think the brake and gas pedal detach upon collision to lessen the severity of foot injures to the driver. If you have a frontal collision sometimes the foot pedal may bend backward, and usually your foot would be on one of the pedals. The "detaching" comes into play and saves your feet from being crushed.
