It's recommended that you set your parking brake and turn your wheels to the curb to prevent or discourage car thieves.

This is the best investment that you can make into your car if you are afraid of it being stolen. There is no way to guarantee that your car will be stolen because if a thief wants your car they will get it. |

Setting the parking brake and turning the wheels to the curb
will delay a thief... about 5 seconds.
The real purpose is to prevent the car from rolling down-hill.
A hidden ignition cut-out switch is a good thing to try, but you've
got to wire it properly.
A steering wheel lock will delay them.
Another idea I've heard is the 'poor mans alarm': a second horn,
wired through a hidden switch to the power buss. - If that switch
is not opened, the horn sounds constantly as long as the power is on. Thieves hate to draw attention.
Your battery might be dead, but the car will still be there. |

If at all possible always back you car or truck in and set the emergency brake because it is a lot harder to drag the vehicle and parking it front first will allow the thief just to lift the rear and pull the car away.

Actually you turn your wheels and put your parking brake on to prevent your car from rolling down when parked on a hill. If the car started to roll it would turn instead of rolling strait down and then it would hit the curb. And if you wanted to prevent a car theif i suggest a car alarm, a steering wheel lock, A boot for your wheel. There is also lo-jack. It has a 98% recover rate. The most important. Don't park your nice denali at the curb in the hood overnight. You're more likely to get your car stolen if you leave it somewhere with a higher crime rate. And if you don't want to buy anything and still protect your car. You can put a banana peel in front of the door so the robber will slip and fall and then an anvil will fall on him! |
