I am taking my driving test and these are the two things i can't find or even know... So any help would be cool. (:
And if it helps I live in Hawaii, not sure if there is different laws in different states. Thank you!

You stop before your wheels cross the white line, known as the "stop line".
If the intersection has a crosswalk, there may not be a stop line. In that case, the closest side of the crosswalk is the stop line. |

If there is a white line, stop before the white line.
If there is a crosswalk.
If there is no white line and no crosswalk, stop far enough back so that you are not blocking pedestrians.
If there is a stop sign and you cannot see clearly because something on the corner is in the way, then:
1. Stop at the required location
2. Move forward very slowly until you can see past the corner.
3. Stop again.
4. Look to see if it is safe to proceed. |

Your question as asked makes no sense; why would stop (at) a street light? Do you mean how far FROM a stop sign or traffic signal? Far enough back not to interfere with traffic is my guess, but there may be specific instructions in your driver's manual. |

As long as you stop just before the stop sign you will be fine.
You do not have to stop at street lights but if you park near them make sure you leave enough space to be able to open your driver door safely without bashing it off the street light.
Also your instructor should already have given you the advice you are asking us for, don't be scared to ask your instructor for advice, that is what they are there for! Goodluck with your test. |
