How fast does a car have to travel for me to perish crossing the street upon impact?

Traffic can be brutal out here with traffic jams and sometimes I cross the street and cars are burning through green and yellow lights like it is Indy Speedway or something! It's crazy. Makes me think I'm a get hit if I'm not careful! Chances are if I got hit I'd be taken to the hospital but not every impact with a car is necessarily fatal I don't think.

It really doesn't matter how fast the car is going you can get hit even you are careful(not trying to say you would). Do you watch Most Shocking bad drivers? Watch that show on trutv and you'll see what i'm trying to say.

All a vehicle has to do is knock you off of your feet and you can fall and crack your skull on the hard street surface. This is less LIKELY at a slow speed, like five mph, but it is possible.

On the other hand, I've seen people knocked thirty feet by a speeding car and they suffer no more than bruises from the initial impact and the landing. A fatality often depends on how the person was hit and, sometimes, how he lands. Haven't you ever seen those stunt persons in the movies who manage to roll up and over a car's hood and windshield?

Pedestrians usually have the right away but that doesn't mean you wont be hurt if you are hit by a car. Only cross at the crosswalks and use caution

Less than one MPH -- remember, blunt force trauma to the head is the #1 killer in any auto accident so unless you were wearing a safety helmet the odds of your head being split when a 4,000 vehicle slams you to the asphalt are pretty good -- or bad, depending how you look at it. There's no escaping basic physics -- the reaction of a human being smacked by that much mass is usually hideous.

It depends on the car as well as your physical condition, a car going 10 miles per hour or 100 miles per hour could kill you, it just depends.

Usually cars would have to be going above 15 mph. The reason why it starts at such a low speed is because of the weight of the car. You see, a car can be going 25 or even 35 mph and someone can be killed on impact. The reason is because of the weight. You are an individual. You weight considerably less than the car. The car weights thousands of pounds. If you match that size with the speed of a car then it can do enough damage to leave you seriously injured or even dead. You don't have to be going very fast to kill someone on impact, although the faster you are driving the more likely you are to kill someone.
