I was a Paramedic for many years. The first to arrive at a MVA (motor vehicle accident) is the Fire Dept. and their first responders who are allowed to assess a patients injuries and administer oxygen only. The Fire Dept always stay to clean up the road of blood, glass, car parts, etc. after the paramedics arrive and take the patients away. The ambulance also hauls away the dead and takes them to the morgue at the hospital. BTW The Fire Dept and first responders also go to homes for medical support until the ambulance arrives.Ambulances could not function without the help of Fire Departments, they also help with lifting, going over (down) hills and helping bring patients up. They do whatever is asked of them and are appreciated at least where I live.

Bleach. Then wash off with hose.{fire dept. usually does this}.

Medicine Woman is exactly right. I'm a retired EMT and I have done (from the ambulance) exactly as she described.

Around here the fire department washes the road down with a fire hose.

Since spilled blood is classified as a hazardous substance, it is cleared with hydrogen peroxide, which dissolves the blood . Medical or fire dept. personnel usually tend to it.

its just pressured off with a hose in to the ditch or just on the side to dry.. usualy its the firefighters job.

Vorhees a jolly good fellow
Well, first off, without being morbid, it depends on the type of accident, and how the death occured.

If the person died quickly, there will be very little blood to clean, and most will be contained inside the car, and on the person, the reason for this is once the heart stops beating, blood stops pumping.

Also, in most cases, where there are sever accidents, medical personel are on the scence very quickly, and also most people who are witnesses attending know the first thing to do is to stop the blood loss, so, once again, most blood is contained in the car, or on the persons clothes, etc etc.

Any large amounts of blood on the road may be hosed off by a paramedics fire reel, or swept toward the kerb by a towtruck drivers broom.
