How long did u take to learn parallel parking?

Use your turn signal to indicate the direction of the parking spot.

If the space is not yet vacant but the car in it is about to leave, wait behind the spot.

When the space is vacant, pull ahead of it until you have pulled up beside the car parked in front of the space. Your rear bumper should be even with that car's rear bumper with about 2 feet of road between you.

Put the car in reverse. Begin to back up slowly; as soon as the car starts moving, turn the wheel as far as it will go toward the curb.

Back slowly into the space.

When the back of your car's front door is even with the rear bumper of the car beside you, begin turning the wheel away from the curb.

Continue turning the wheel away from the curb and backing slowly into the space.

Straighten out the wheel, then pull forward or back in the space as needed to center yourself between the cars in front of and behind you. Your car should be 6 to 8 inches from the curb when you are parked.

Practice makes perfect. Once someone shows you how to do it properly, you try it until you're good at it. Some people learn quickly and there are some who never seem to get it right.

Out in the real world, you will see all kinds of challenges to your skill, so after practicing in your set-up situation, try in the city.

Hey, good job! You'll find that each parking problem is different - is the opening big enough, is the front guy sticking out too far from the curb, are you driving a different vehicle? Yet each parallel park requires the same basic ingredient - the space should be at least one and a half times the length of your vehicle, whether it is a Beetle or an SUV. The other issue is that parallel parking is not one of those things one normally gets to do on a regular basis. The skill fades over time. That is why you see folks struggle with it on the street at very inopportune times.

um computer games of parking will not help you to save your life. it didn't take me long at all. i just cant ever remember the steps to getting in the spot perfectly.

i got it on my first try I've been just studying my parents drive its not as hard as most new drivers think

I'm still not that good at it and I've been driving for decades! I was really worried when I took my first driving test, but the space they had me pull into was big enough for an aircraft carrier!

A lot depends on the car. My car has rounded corners and I can't see them. My GF's car is squarer and I can see where the end is, so it's much easier to back into a parallel parking space.

If you found it easy the first time, well good for you. I'm not envious. You probably have trouble with other things that are easy for me. 8^)

Have an adult who knows how to drive to explain to you how to parallel park and just practice in a empty parking lot and place two cones and try doing it that way. It really helps. Practice makes perfect but no matter what everyone always has those days when they act like a rookie when trying to parallel park. I learned in a praking lot and after my first try i just kinda know how to do it.

It took me one time with instructor. It should not take more than a half hour. Computer games can teach you anything except how to waste you time.

Parallel parking is actually really easy if you have a good instructor to help you. I got mine on the first try, luckily in Arizona you don't need that. haha.
