How many beers you can drink and drive?

Legal limit is 80mm alcohol per something, 10mm makes 1 unit one can of Stella has about 2.2 units which means I can drink nearly 4 cans of Stella and still drive safely??? Amazing

Wrong...the legal limit is 35 microgrammes per 100 militres of breath. Two pints and you're screwed!

Your math is screwed up and so is your logic. It doesn't matter anyway - you can be charged with impaired driving even if you don't blow over the legal limit. Most jurisdictions charge you with 2 counts - blood alcohol over the limit AND impaired driving. It usually is included as one count when the judge drops the gavel. In your instance, they might make a case for excess stupidity as well.

ummmm no you cant,

you may be able to get away with 1 pint of ordinary larger depending on your body's Constitution or 1 and half glass's of wine.. but if you were to drink 4 cans Stella and drive.. then your just plain mad and are wanting to hurt or kill some poor Innocent child or yourself.

Why can no-one ask an innocent/hypothetical question on here? Nothing in the question suggests qazwsx has any intention of drink driving...
Personally I wouldn't drink at all if you're unsure of your limit. Better to be safe than sorry.

legal limit should be zero with zero tolerance from the police to those who flaunt the law, drinking impedes your judgement.

k
If you and your friend's want to get home ALIVE and UNINJURED do NOT drink at all - just one sip can put you over the safe limit. In some areas the police have a zero tollerance to motorists who drink.

don't drink and drive !!!!!!

The original Peter G
Don't be silly. ZERO beers is the only sensible number.
If you try to drink to your limit you will sooner or later come unstuck. Remember the law about drink driving is not only breathalyser, the old rule about incapable through drink or drugs still can be used, and the police could be quite difficult if you were stinking of cheap lager but just under the limit.
Coming unstuck could be a write-off, a years ban, attendance at an inquest &c.&c.

It depends on your size and metabolism.
Anything you take - drink or drugs - affects your judgement so it's sensible not to drink if you drive.
The only problem with having a zero limit - which I think would make sense - is that it can take a long time to get the level down to zero, so having a drink the night before can still mean you have alcohol in your blood next morning.

I played around with a breathalyser years ago and discovered that the legal limit is ridiculous - you feel drunk and yet could legally still drive !

pinkstars
that's not right, about 2 pints puts most people over the limit, but it depends on the person's size (the more they weigh the more they can drink generally) and also their metabolism, and also whether you have eaten with the drink. However, I think the best way is to not drink at all if you're planning on driving-even if you just have one unit, it still slows down your reactions to a point. Alcohol is just not important enough to make it worth the risk of injuring or even killing yourself and others

London NW3
about a pint and a half

It depends on the person. You could be a little person and drink a lot, or be a big person and drink a little. It all depends on the persons tolerance for alcohol.
