On the 2nd Severn Crossing - M4 ( the new bridge) the National speed limit of 70mph for vehicles under 7.5 tonnes applies (60 mph for HGV's) At the moment there is an advisory 50 mph limit on the "old bridge" - M48 Speed restrictions are put in place when high winds are present |

I estimate that 310,598 drivers know the speed limit over the Severn bridge. |

I live just by the new Severn bridge ,haven`t been over either of them since August. Motorway speed limits apply ,roadworks or high winds often reduce the limit to 50 or less .Last time I did come over the old one ,road was all clear so was able to do the full 70. |

70 unless you are approaching toll booths then its 50 depending on wind |

hmm, which one, one is 60 and one is 70, but both can alter depending
on weather conditions, and you will directed accordingly,
anyhow heading into wales you have to slow down for the tolls,
hey ! can anyone explain why you dont pay to leave wales ? |

Depends on the wind speed - in strong winds it is closed |

I'd be driving real slow without looking over the edge, cause big bridges are scary! How fast do you want to go!? |

last time i went over it was 50 ,are there any roadworks going on at the moment? |

I don't know but I can tell you the law.
If the road is a dual carriageway, that is both carriages are physically separated and there are no speed limit signs, eg 60mph, the speed limit is 70 miles per hour.
On single carriageways where there are no speed limit signs the national speed limit of 60mph applies. |

A new 50mph speed limit was introduced by the Welsh Assembly Government at the beginning of August following a history of road collisions and high speeds.
