How many road accidents are caused by drivers fiddling with their radio and hence not concentrating?

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 80% of all crashes and 65% of near crashes are caused by some type of driver inattention 3 seconds prior to the event.

Not sure what the statistics are for inattention caused specifically by a driver playing with their radio, but I'm sure there are more than enough. Anytime your attention is diverted to your radio, cell phone, car occupants, etc., you're not focusing on where you should be...the ROAD.

There is probably no precise statistic because when someone has an accident, they usually will not admit they were doing anything stupid.

I've never heard of any. I hope you are not trying to compare that to cell phone accidents.

Not just the radio, could be the sweety bag or the phone or any thing else they have to hand to mess about with.
