i was under the ipression you had to 14 in the front bur now im being told if you have the rite restraint then any age can sit in the front,also ive been told if you are pregnant you are not allowed to sit ine passengers side with anair bag,i need someone to tell me the rite law as im getting very confused

Check the manufacture specifications. You'll see it's not the age that matters it is height and weight. The Airbag does not care how old you are it will hit you at 200 Mph, height and weight becomes the crucial factor as it determines the density and strength of the occupants body and it's ability to withstand the Airbag punch.
With that said Check your local police station. They will be able to give you an answer specific to your local laws based on age. Keep in mind I would obey which ever law or rule (manufactures specifications or local law) which is more stringent. |

For the record it is not just age that impacts this. Each state has their own law, car makers have their own recommendations but the weight of the person is the biggest factor.
a 14 year old who weighs less than 60 pounds should probably not be in the front seat of a vehicle with an airbag.
The potential for injury from the implosion of the airbag is the most logical reason for this.
Visit the National Highway and Traffic Safety website or the automakers web site for your vehicle to see what their guidelines are.
Me personally I have no problem telling a child that they can not sit in the front. I would rather see their sad face than their burnt face. As an adult you have to be strong enough to do what is best for the children in your lives.

Ermm.. different country and states have different laws regarding the airbag.
But generally, its the height and weight of the person that generally matters. Cos the impact of the airbag can kill. Its a prevention of head injury when in an accident, the seatbelt prevents the body frm goin forward, but the head still be push forward by the impact.
tats where the iarbag comes into place. it cushions the head. But if the person too short, it might instead suffocats the person instead. |

anyone from the age of 7 and up can sit in the front passenger and pregnant people can sit or drive in front of an airbag up to so many weeks i think its over 30 weeks check with your doctor but i think its just a matter of how comfortable the pregnant person will be. the front will be better because of more space. |

In the state of Georgia you have to be 13 years old. In some of the newer vehicles, you have the ability to turn the airbags off. Even with that, children must still be at least 13 to sit up front. |

I think it has to do with size, small people should be just as cautious as children (who no longer need to be in a car-seat) when riding in the passenger seat. And put the seat as far away from the airbag as possible, unless you can turn off the passenger airbag. |
