Okay, I've been debating this with my mom for some time now: so I'm 13, right? And one day, when we're going to a place where all my friends are; my sister, who is only 10 asks to sit in the front. And my mom says I have to "share" the front seat with my sister ('share'
as in "take turns"). Now I did not like the perception of going to a place and everyone knows my baby sister is 2 years younger than me and I'm sitting in the back looking like an idiot. And I did some research on some search engines like google and stuff. And the majority of the websites like wikianswers say that the answer was 12, I did find like 2% of the websites say 10 or 14, or something like that...but for the most part, it said 12. And my mom won't listen so I need a like legal sort of confirmation about this. So I think you know the question. And if you could put a link to your sources so I can show my mom the websites to confirm this...thanks! =)

Check your car's owner's manual- It might be in there. It depends on what state you live in but often there is no "legal" age to sit in the front, only a recommended age. As for dealing with your sister, younger siblings will almost always get things earlier in life than their older siblings did. It's unfortunate, but you'll have to deal with it. :/ Your friends are probably in the same situation and really, everyone cares too much about themselves to notice your imperfections/faults. (not that riding in the back is a fault) |

I have 3 children, that are much younger than you but they will sit in the back until they are old enough to drive. Seriously. I feel as it is too dangerous in the front for children. This also eliminates fighting, if you both are in the back then there are no problems of who sits where and for how long. Good luck kid and be careful. Remember God loves you! |

you have to be at least 5'2" tall at the very least to sit in front of an airbag safely. you are also supposed to be 12 of older and at least 90 lbs |

This is a good question for your DOT. It's not age that determines whether or not you can sit in the front seat, the law requires you to be a certain height and weight. ( It varies from state to state so maybe a good site to look into is your Department of transportation.) Assuming that you're not a midget, the law says around 13 or 14 years old you're able to sit in the front seat. Here's a link for you to look at |
