How old were you when you got in to your first car accident?

I was 20 and pregnant. I was in a hit and run accident. My whole front end was tore to hell. I was hit so hard, it broke the A-Frame.

I think I was about 3 or 4. My brother and I were with our baby sitter and someone rear ended her. But when I started driving, 17. You don't have to be drunk to get into a wreak either, like that trout fishy guy said. He can't spell.

I was about 21 years old, and got my license and bought my uncle's automobile (1957 Ford Fairlane 500).

I had an argument with my father, ran out, and wasn't concentrating on my driving.

A car was crossing an intersection, and I didn't notice it until the last second. Even applying the brakes, I couldn't stop in time, and damaged the rear quarter panel of his vehicle.

I went out and noticed no damage to my automobile. They built large chrome bumpers in those days.

We discussed the damages, and he suggested we shouldn't notify the insurance companies. No police were present, and no witnesses.

He invited me over for super with his family.

I was treated to dinner, and then I offered $50.00 to repair his automobile. He accepted, and we parted friends.

Try doing this today. Too much has changed.

Someone asked about finding new vehicles that are safe.

If they put more steel and chrome in them ,maybe we wouldn't have totaled vehicles at low speed collisions.

So they make them lighter and use air bags, and still it doesn't work.

Driving in these times should be a serious matter. Instead, I see all kinds of freaky things going on while driving.

I haven't been in a collision ever since, but some vehicles have side swiped me, and I prevented major accidents.

It's called driving defensibly. (And sensibly).

Well, I was a passenger on my 14th bday when my sister rear ended someone...

But the first one when I was driving I was 16- it wasn't my faulth though.

Im 19 and Ive only been in one accident. I was 16 and a passenger in the back seat. We're all ok : )

I was 5 or 6 years old. I wasn't driving obviously. I spent a week in the hospital after it and my sister died in the ambulance that I was in but they brought her back.

I was 17 and that accident almost killed me. I'm thankful to be alive and I can't remember a thing that happened.....thats probably for the best though.

I was 25, and I was a driving to the shops with my friend and her three kids. I didn't want to go as she didn't have car seats (they weren't used as much back when i was 25 as they are now) and she just sat 2 of them in the backseat, and nursed her 2 year old on her lap in the frontseat. I was the only one wearing a seatbelt when a drunk driver crossed to the wrong side of the road. i swerved to miss him and smashed into a light pole. we crashed at about 40 mile per hour. I was fine, as I was the only one who had a seatbelt on, but my friend and her three kids died. I saw my friend and her two year old go through the windscreen, and her daughter was ejected from the car through the windscreen as she had been standing between the frontseats. Her other daughter died as she slammed into the back of the passenger seat, then was thrown over that, and hit the ceiling, then she landed in the foot well of the passenger side. I've never gotten over that, and now every where I go, i make sure that my kids a restrained. I get chills every time I see a car with unrestrained kids, especially a mother holding her child in her lap as it reminds me of my friend. I still have nightmares where I see her and her daughter in her lap going through the windscreen. If any one reading this holds their child in their lap and thinks that they will survive a car wreck should think again, as that's what my friend thought as well

I was 17 i got hit by a semi truck driver head on,,i was driving a 1972 Chevy Vega GT,,and he ran all the way over the top of my car,he also left the scene,,but was caught in Florida,,a few months later,,as for me i survived it pretty good,this was my only accident.

My parents were in a minor car crash the day my mom found out she was pregnant with me. They went to the hospital after the crash and that's when the doctor told her the news.

18. I had just finished basic and technical training in the Air Force and was at my first duty assignment. I was dating a girl, daughter of an AF Master Sergeant. Really gruff guy who always looked like he was constapated.

So I picked her up at her house, in her driveway, in my 1971 Ford Maverick (thing was solid steel, a small tank). As I was backing up, she put her hand in my lap right next to my groin and squeezed... My foot slipped on the gas and sent us flying backwards... right into the brand new 1989 Ford pickup her dad had bought 3 days before. My rear bumper had scratches. His front quarterpanel was toast.

I was sweating bullets... She assured me that she would take care of it and smooth it over.

As we walked in the house, the last thing I heard before I ran for the door was: "Daddy! B just smashed into your truck!"
