I have my driving test tomorrow and a U-turn might be included.
I was wondering about say, if in a small street, you need to make a U-turn: if there are cars behind you, do you first put your right signal on, pull off, let them pass, then turn your left signal on, make the U-turn, and continue driving? Or, do you simply put the left signal on and go for the U-turn, letting the cars pass as you move out of their way?
Also, if it's a very tight street, how far up a driveway ramp on the sidewalk are you allowed to pull into before going into reverse? I need to know specific details because examiners take off points for the tiniest things. Hope someone can get back to me before tomorrow! Thanks.

you don't make a u-turn on a residential street.
pull as far up the drive as needed, if there's any traffic pull far enough up to clear the street. |

Pull over and signal that you are pulling over.
Then, signal to the left (as if you are coming out of a parking spot), and whenever you can, make the U turn or 3 point turn.
Note that this is illegal to do when the streets have the double solid lines, and if a cop catches you, you will get a ticket with points for "Improper U-Turn". So be careful. |
