hi there, i've been driving without a problem for 7 years now. It is not a very long period but long enough to drive well. my simple answer to you would be that the more you drive the more you learn. after 7 years of driving everyday is a new practice for me. when you are driving don't be afraid. I suggest you drive on an inexpensive smaller city car first rather than jumping into a very expensive "mercedes" for example. While you are driving your "inexpensive" car even if you make mistakes or to the worst case have a minor accident or scratches on your car don't get demotivated you should continue. when you are in the car don't panic stay always calm it is good have a good reflex. and when you are turning don't think for long hit the accelerator and turn. The other guy has brakes, so he will use them :). DON'T THINK JUST DO IT!!! i hope my little advice will help you. wish you all the best.

first knowing ,remembering n mastering all part of ur car second you should follow ur country`s rules....n just take adeepest breath b`fore u drive ur old car.. coz it`s makes u feeling confident with ur self ,don`t be affraid with anything else arround u,,,but the most important thing that u have to do is . u have to buy a new,nice ,simple car ,good in speed the last one..make sure that the breaker is good b`fore u drivin ur car,,,.......okey...good luck sweety...

you could go to a quiet place with some chalk & friends put down some marks, measure how many seconds/meters you need to take off and get up to traffic speed from around a corner. The go and sit by the road, mark the meters down the road where you reach traffic speed and learn to judge the distance the other car has to be from your take-off point to give you that much time to the traffic speed point+ 2 seconds. remember he must not catch you, nor should he have to slow much to let you in, if he's NOT speeding. It's an art, learned by practice.

This comes in time. After driving a while, it'll just happen. How to become a better driver? Just know the rules of the road, and follow them. Obey the laws. If it is a 45 mph, then do just that. If you are going by a school, where it is 15 mph, do just that. Even though there are no kiddies present! Don't get mad while driving,don't give people the finger, and DON'T TALK ON YOUR CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING! Hope that my little speech helped.

Turning or changing lanes only when it's safe to do so, isn't that what your're taught? it's your life you're talking about, not the guy/gal behind you, honking at you. Just relax and stay alert, anticipate what other drivers would do, keep your safe distance.

Driving isn't very hard.
Try this when you start driving always keep your eyes on the road,when turning always use signals,try driving in between fast and too slow and always follow the red and green signals.
Don't drive in a hurry it only causes accidents.
After you learn this you will be a great driver.

It sounds like a confidence thing... You aren't sure in your decision making whether you should turn or not. Indecisive.

How long have you been driving?

I would suggest just be patient with youself, and just practise your driving. It takes a long time to become "good" at driving as the situations you are presented with from one moment to the next are really unpredictable.

Also, maybe take some professional driving lessons. I know of people who have been driving for up to a decade and they went back to basic driving classes (like with an instructor, for learner drivers)

It is good to hear that you are trying to be careful though, I think a lot of people think they can drive and are actually very dangerous on the road because they are too confident!

Umm... you just gotta get a feel for the current of traffic. Turning right is easy cuz you don't really have to worry about traffic COMING from the right, just worry about the left. When there's considerable space for you to turn in accelerate, go for it. Turning left is sometimes harder, but just wait till the right-heading traffic eases up, and then go when left-heading traffic gives you room to go.

It's all about practice. You'll get the hang of it.

It is a good thing that you are cautious. I feel I am the same way as you. I hesitate when turning across a busy street. Make sure that the oncoming traffic isn't coming too fast, then when you see an opening, make sure to take off fast. If you don't take off fast enough, the traffic can catch up with you. Just be confident and don't make yourself nervous.
