i know if its a green arrow you have the right of way but if a green light do you stay behind the crosswalk and when its safe proceed on your turn or can you drive up forward a bit then when safe proceed on a turn im not sure and im wondering befor i take my driving test

I JUST took defensive driving class for a ticket!!! We talked about this.
I'm in AZ, the instructor was from WY.....it depends on the state. In AZ you're expected to move up & it is legal to do so. In WY it's a no-no. I suggest staying back - even if it's legal it shows the instructor you're with you're conscious of possible dangerous situations.

Preferably you don't start moving until it is safe for you to do so. Realistically people drive up a bit knowing that it will be safe after a passing car but in the test, stay behind the crosswalk until its clear for you to go. |

If it is an unprotected turn, on green you can go into the intersection to prepare for the turn (you don't have to wait behind the lines), but you do not have the right of way. Wait for all the other cars to go and then turn when it is clear. This is California driving by the way. |

If you have a green light stay out of the intersection and crosswalk until you have full clearance to make your turn safely. |

Approach the opposite lane with ease. Check at all times for a clearing, proceed with caution, wait your turn, make sure your signal is on and turn with caution.

You can stay behind the crosswalk or pull forward, whichever you feel is safer. Remember you can still go through when the light is yellow if it takes that long. Just don't stay there for long when it turns red. |

You can move up forward a little bit, but make sure its not a turn lane for them you dont want to be to far up and them not be able to turn.
I would just move up a little bit, usually you move up if not you could fail it possibly. |

Well it depends. Some big 4way intersections has a sign that says No left turn on red (meaning if the arrows are red you don't turn until it turns green) If it doesn't have that sign then you can turn when it's safe.
I would suggest that you don't pass the cross walk unless you are about to turn because sometimes if the roads are busy you might not get a chance to turn before the light changes. |
