How to handle a tricky driving situation,?

I am getting along in the years and no longer strong, crime is increasing by leaps and bounds and when I drive long distances I keep a jack handle in easy reach just in case the truck breaks down somewhere out of town. Recently stranded motorist have ben attacked nearby and frankly this scares me. The last time I was stopped by police they got excited when they seen the jack handle on my floorboard.I had to do some talking and tell a few lies. What is happening to the world these days, it seems we have no protection from the police and we are forbidden to protect ourselves?

yes I ran into this in the late 70s I guess you have to look at the reality of the situation and do what you think is best, since tire irons come in cars, there is little cops can do, but it seems every year they erode our rights ever so slowly, and nit pik little crap looking for excuses to stop people. I had a car buck in the 70s that the gas gauge did not work, so I kept a five gallon can half full in the back seat if I ran out of gas I just put what I had in the can in the gas tank. It was a 35 dollar rambler, and I was not worried about the interior, so I had the gas can wedged behind the driver seat so it would not slop around. One day up in a mountian road outside of the city just driving around, I saw a dirt road, so I started to go up, I did not get very far before a deep dip stopped me from going forward. I started to back up, and there was a highway patrol right behind me, so I got out of my car went back and asked them what was up. the officer said"there is a guy setting things on fire around her with gasoline" I about pooped my pants right then, but I looked him right in the eye and said "then your not going to like this I have 2 gallons of gas in the back seat of my car, but im not setting any fires with it" apparently my honest face and good looks were worthless because for the next half hour I had all kinds of fun getting roasted over an open fire, but at one point an officer with a lit cigarette in his mouth opened up the gas can, I started backing up asking him if he was out of his mind, until I was far enough from the whole thing, they decided right there I was probably not the guy, (also they found no matches so that helped a lot, kind of hard to light a forest fire with no match.) I had two tire irons in my car once and the cops tried to make a big deal, but in the end, if you are not in trouble or have warrants there is not much they can do, except let you go

Quit doing things that get you stopped by police and you won't have to worry about it. But yes, you can protect yourself. A jack handle is a tool, and you can carry a tool without penalty.

Well since VIOLENT CRIME IS DOWN, try checking the Statistics, you have no defense. The difference is when you were a kid you didn't have 24 hour news networks that were looking for news.
