I'm 16. How can i convince my parents to let me travel alone?

wait another 20 years. Travel is very safe, but people are not! There are people at airports just waiting for a lone teenager to walk by and pounce on. The attendant will help you on the plane, but once you're off, you're on your own. Remember the buddy system!

You are so lucky to have parents who care for you and want to keep you safe. There is no way that you can fly non-stop from Hawaii to D.C. Therefore, you will have to negotiate stops and probable plane changes. This is where your safety will be jeopardized. In a large airport a girl your age would be so vulnerable to anyone who would mean to harm her in many ways! It is bery difficult for you to understand all of the many dangers there are out in the world for a young lady like you. When you are young you just feel like nothing could ever happen to you. The stories that we see daily on the news always seem to happen to other people. Those stories just don't feel real to us. But think about it....every missing girl in this world is SOMEBODY'S daughter. (And there are many thousands!) Actually, it isn't really safe for a young woman to travel any long distances alone, in my opinion. You obviously have folks who love you. Be grateful for them. Wash. D.C. will still be there when you find another way to travel there WITH a pal!!!

Okay, you're not real clear on the organization that you're going to DC for but I'm betting it's for the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC). I couldn't find any organization with "GYCL". For your plane trip you will be monitored by the flight crew (it's required) and at the conference. This is what their information states:

Where will I stay while at GYLC? Students and staff reside at local hotels and universities in the United States and in hotels and conference centers in Europe and China.

How are students supervised? Students are closely supervised 24 hours a day. Our staff includes faculty advisors, who serve as educational facilitators and chaperones, security personnel, operations personnel, as well as the program director. The student-to-staff ratio is 16-to-1. Faculty advisors take attendance several times a day at every conference site and room checks every evening. Hall monitors are employed to ensure that students remain in their rooms and to provide support for students who become ill or have an emergency at night.

Well, traveling alone is kind of dangerous but you can tell your parents of the option of having the attendant follow you. The next thing though is, if you're going to some even try to get a friend to go with you. If you're meeting someone, have them meet you at you gate and tell your parent about that. Also the promise of calling when you arrive or whenever you work out with your parents to ease their minds of knowing you made it to so and so.

If you really want to go, try to lay out a plan with them. Even if the plan you find annoying if it has too many check points with them-it will make them feel better and you will have the chance of going.

Tell your parents about the attendant looking after you and just convince them that you are able to.

firstly convince your parents to trust you. then show them that you are very independent and you can do things for yourself. and then by then lets hope they let, and if they don't just tell them how hard you've been working for this chance

Parent should realize that tomorrow when u grow up more you need to travel themselve.Compare with societies and your friends and tell parent u feel bad when ur friends are free and u cant

If you really want to go travel alone you should just spread your wing and fly, quit trying to convince them.

make sure you have someone with you though, so it would be safer.

What i would do though, is finish high school then travel.

let see... where you gonna stay in hawaii? that's the reason why your parents not allowed you to go by your self.. coz they doesn't know who you will stay with in hawaii, and they worried that there will be something happen to you in hawaii.
