its confusing, but help would be very appreciated......let's say i'm driving up to a T intersection, and i am on the road that is not the "through road". I stop (because there is a stop sign on just my road), and i signal left because i want to turn left. Then a car on the "through road" stops at their left turning lane (not because there is a stop sign like on my road, but because it is not safe to turn yet), to turn onto my road. When it is safe to turn, who should go first? me, who was the first one there; or the other person, because i should yield to the "through street"

he goes first since you are the one that has a stop sign. obviously you didn't read the book very thoroughly because it is in there. |

Sorry, to say, but the other person has the RIGHTaway. Since your at a stop, and he dont stop, he gets to go first. |

A stop sign means you must come to a full and complete STOP and proceed when the road is clear and it is safe to do so, unless it is a multiple stop sign road (two-way stop or four way stop). If there are multiple stop signs (2) then the first person to stop is the first person to proceed regardless of the direction of travel. In a four way stop intersection if two vehicles arrive at the same time, the vehicle on the right has the right of way to proceed otherwise, first stop - first go!
If you have the stop sign you must yield to traffic without a stop sign and wait for the road to clear until you can proceed safely.
Hope this helps! |

The other guy goes first cause he has the right of way.....he has no "stop" sign. |

The driver on the through street. You must yield to the turning traffic the same as you would for traffic traveling straight through the intersection. Why? You have the stop sign.
Good luck! |

Since the side road has the stop sign, the other traffic on the through road has priority. You have to wait until the other driver finishes their turn and fully clears the intersection.
And then you can proceed - but only when it is safe to do so. Check for crossing traffic again - in both directions - to make sure nobody is coming through the intersection. Look left, right, and left again - checking for cars, bicycles and pedestrians.
The situation is different when all lanes and directions have stop signs. In that case, the first to arrive has priority (again, cross only when safe.) If 2 cars arrive at the same time, the rule is the car on the right has priority. To be safe, make eye contact with the other driver - don't assume he/she sees you. Then proceed with your turn.
In practice it is often safer to let the other car proceed, especially if you are a novice driver. Taking a little extra time can make a safer journey. When you take the in-car driving exam, then you can assert your rights at a 4-way stop sign. Just be careful and you will have a long & safe driving career ahead of you.
Remember: there are old pilots and bold pilots. But not too many old and bold pilots. Same applies to drivers.
Good luck. |

The other person still have the right of way. And he/she is also in a less secure position because the cars going in both directions are not stopping at the intersection. let the other car go first. |

he does because you are at a stop and he is on a thru road. I am sure if you looked to your left there was another car come and not going to stop.
Be careful
One last thing since your a young guy, Drive safe the girl will like it, you would not believe me how many women have said they like to feel safe and give story's how there last or other boyfriend always scared them. also a great line but true is to tell them they are importing and you want to treat them right. |

If you are at a stop sign, and no one else has a stop sign then you are the LAST to proceed. You can only go when the road is clear and that includes waiting for that other vehicle to turn left. |

Intersections are the one thing I never remember. I always just let everyone go first to avoid doing something wrong. |

I'd say its ur choice, how ever u really feel comftrable doing it. leting the other person go first or or u taking a quick head start.
I would really chose the one that is rather safer for me and wait for them to go, or find a better possible way to get through.
Good luck! |

the person to the right of you ,always has the right of way ,it should be in the book, but that's the law on intersections,,good luck. |
