You're in the UK, the legal driving age is 17 for cars (unless you're disabled).

Nope, you can start at 17. I was told it had too, but it hasn't it was a rumor, people say it should to reduce young people dying in car accidents, thats how it started.
I could have started at 16, but i chose not too. I'd rather wait a year, i doubt i could even see over the stearing wheel right now, lol!

Where do people get the information that the driving age is going to be 18? This question is one of the most common.

In future go to the official site site http://www.dvla.gov.uk or http://www.direct.gov.uk/motoring and will see it's 17 not 18.

You can drive when you:

1. are 17 years old (in most states).
2. have taken and passed a driver's education course.
3. have taken and passed the driver's exam (written and road).
4. have the experience to safely handle the operation of a motor vehicle and know all traffic laws (and know that you are not immune to them).
5. have the understanding of the responsibility and maturity that goes along with driving.
6. realize and accept that driving is a privilege...NOT a right...and it's one that can be taken away.

The legal driving age varies state to state. A few are as high as 18 years of age, others as low as 14 (particularly in states where there is a lot of farming and agriculture). In the long run, however, the legal age is still 16. What's making news media right now is the number of young people who are not getting their licenses until age 18 due to the reduction of driver's education in public high schools and the cost of private programs. I was one of those teens, btw, that didn't get my learner's permit until I was 18 and my driver's license at 19.

well.. depends where you are, but normally u get your permit at 16 and can drive at 17, well where i am. in some places u can at like 15 i think.

you should be able to go for your permit when you turn 16 then 6 months later go for your intermediate license and then like six months after that get your actual license at least that's the way it is in kentucky you should check at your local court house

OK, driving ages vary from state to state. Some are as high as eighteen, and some as low as fourteen, because of farm help. There has been talk of raising the driving age to eighteen in every state, because in some states, like New Jersey, the driving age (I think) is seventeen, and there have been lower death rates. They are trying to think of ways to lower the teen death rate, because car crashes are one of the number one causes of teen deaths, because of reckless driving and such. You'll have to find out from an adult or town official to find out.

depends on where you live...
in virginia you have to be 15 and 3 months to get permit and 16 and 3 months for liscence
you can drive now most states are around the age period
