I'm extremely worried?

I work in a quick lube place and something happened the other day that has me very concerned. I was taking the tire off a 1993 plymouth mini van and when I used the impact wrench, the air blowing out made a bunch of the brake pad dust on the rim fly up and I inhaled some. I don't know whether they were asbestos or not and I am very worried.

They don't use asbestos in brake pads anymore. Most of them are made of graphite now. You'll be fine!

I don't know if you need to worry. I have been a mechanic for quite a number of years and hav breathed in a lot of brake dust without any problems. Next time tho. If I were you you might get in the babit of using a dust mask.

You will be fine and the next time that you decide to use the impact it is always a good idea to wear a mask that covers yours mouth and nose.........

A single, brief exposure to asbestos is fairly harmless. The lung diseases that result from asbestos exposure are occur only as a result of chronic long-term exposure, not a single incident.

unless they were original break bads from 1950, You shouldnt be worried.

Next time just, dont inhale when you buzz them off.
