I want to put him in the front seat so he can lean back and relax. his booster seat in the back, dosen't allow for him to tilt back in the seat.
I understand that the airbag is the safety issue.
I have a honda civic 2 door, so I can push the front seat back pretty far, far enough in my judgment that the air back would not reach, or barley touch him. The seat belt fits good, and He can lean back and sleep, and do his books and games easier.

Hopefully your car still has that yellow sticker that reminds you NEVER to put small children in the front seat. The NHTSB recommendation is that any child under 12 years of age should sit in the back.
Kids are more adaptable than adults. If he's tired, he'll sleep in the back seat. Plan on making stops every few hours to get him up and stretching for a few minutes. |

First of all putting your son in the front seat is not a good idea. You need to know the rules of front seat passengers, and what is acceptable. If your son is still in a booster seat then it means he is too young to be sitting in the front seat. Age, height, and weight must be taken into account when putting a child in the front seat. Here are the requirements to follow as it relates to children and the ages they can upgrade from booster seats to seat belts.
REAR-FACING SEATS in the back seat from birth to at least 1 year old and at least 20 pounds.
FORWARD-FACING TODDLER SEATS in the back seat from age 1 and 20 pounds to about age 4 and 40 pounds.
BOOSTER SEATS in the back seat from about age 4 to at least age 8, unless 4'9" tall.
SAFETY BELTS at age 8 and older or taller than 4'9". All children age 12 and under should ride in the back seat.
Notice the last requirement, the child must be older than 12 to be in the front seat. So it is not a good idea to have your son in the front seat. It is dangerous and it is against the law. |

children under 12 years old are not supposed to ride in the front seat. The exception is if it is a truck without an extended cab and you are able to turn the airbags off. |
