I JUST GOT IN A CAR CRASH HELP?

I just got in a car crash and i dont even know what i'm supposed to do
I'm a nineteen y/o male and this indian lady with an suv hit my corolla on the right nose. I was making a left and i had a green light. she was in the opposing lane making a right which would place us both on the same street. i THINK that if I had a GREEN she MUST have had a RED, only the opposing traffic's LEFT/STRAIGHT lane could have a green, in any case, I was in the left most lane and turning left onto the leftmost lane of this other street; for her to have hit me she had to go from the right most lane of the opposing traffic, onto the LEFTmost lane of the street we were both going on IS THAT ILLEGAL? IT SHOULD BE!

i've never been in an accident before my freaking spine was shaking like hell, i got out of the car and asked her if she realised that she shouldnt have done that, and she was like "i think you had a red light" and i was like NO i DIDnt have a red light youre a dumbass ***** and you better not try and say that(i didnt say that) we exchanged phone numbers names and licences, she copied off of my insurance policy these three things, but she didnt show me HERS i dont know if she HAD one or not.
could you guys just tell me what the hell i'm supposed to do? did i not get enough information?, should i report this to someone right away?, how can I avoid her lying and saying that I ran a red light?

wow i didnt call the cops because there was a cop right behind us stopped by the red light, and he just drove past us when it turned green, so i figured they dont have anything to do with it. obviously im a legal driver, if i have insurance. im fked huh?

the advice on getting a settlement on paper and signed is good, because I have reached an agreement with the lady in which she will be paying for the repairs (she called)

Driving Instructor (BRAKE!)

You should have asked for and written down the following;

1. Her Driver's license information - name, address, date of birth and driver's license #. Also asked for TWO phone numbers for contact.
2. Her car description - make, model and license plate #.

You should have noted the location and time that this occured.

I would IMMEDIATELY drive back to where it occurred to see if the light might have been malfunctioning (doubtful.)
It sounds like you may have been turning left at an "unprotected" or YIELD left turn light. The opposing traffic has the right of way to turn right as well as straight ahead. Remember, any time you're turning LEFT it is your responsibility to yield UNLESS it's a "protected" turn - as indicated by a left turn arrow.
I would also try to get together with her and take pictures of the damage to avoid any increase in the estimate.
Finally, I would ask her to get estimates of repair - you are more than likely at fault. You may also want to contact your insurance co. depending upon the severity of the damages and ANY complaint of injury by her.
Don't make any settlement without a signed Release of Liability.

You had every right to get her information, and if she had refused to give it to you, remember and write down the plate number. Maybe if there were any witnesses you could've talked to them and got their info?

She may try to claim it, people are retarded like that.

Dear, in the future immediately call the police. They may refuse to come to the scene, and if so, then take down the license number of the driver, the license plate of the vehicle, and the VIN of the car that hit you. Then go directly to the police station and ask to file an accident report.

Also watch out for Indians. Sorry if this offends anyone, but their culture is such that they--in their own minds--are never wrong. They think they are capable of no wrong. While this sounds like a stereotype, years of managing staff in India has taught me that they inherently believe that there is an intellectual superiority over Westerners. No idea why, but that's how it is.

They must not teach this in drivers ed or on license test any more as many like questions that are ask. But the first thing you do when you have an accident is to call the POLICE. Everyone would not have as many problems as they do if they would do this. They will investigate and collect information about all involved and insurance info etc. When you leave the scene then they cant tell what happened and witnesses leave so it will be harder as it will become a he said she said deal. They probably will figure it out for you but it will harder now. Call the POLICE and file a report. Most people avoid this because they are not legal. No drivers license, or insurance, DUI etc. So if you are legal you have nothing to worry about...............ujn

You may want to put a small ad in several newspapers and stores and on the my space asking people if they happen to see the accident on that date and time maybe someone saw her run the light. A lot of times the person turning left is blamed but I really do not know because like you said you had a green light. What about a car behind you? Also never leave the scene of an accident without calling the police because they write it up and make sure she would have insurance. Next time never move you cars that can tell the officer where she came from, good luck. Call your local police and question them

Yeah call the cops, I know its not best to lie but if you have to report it as a hit and run do what you gotta do. The situation your in though where I live there's should have been a sign that says no turn on red. But call the police tell them what happened, and call your insurance company. If there are any business around there see if there's and witnesses or possibly a security camera that might have captured the accident that you can use as your evidence if you can get it to court. this is something you need to report IMMEDIATELY. what i suggest, is calling the police right now and ask them who you should meet to settle this. you might even want to ask if they want to come to your house or apartment so you can tell the police what happened, exactly. they might ask you a few questions, and you need to answer them honestly. tell them what you think, and give them all of her info. make sure you tell them that you had the right of way because you had the green light. you may even want to show them this question, so you don't have to explain it all over again. although that may not be the best idea...

Well your first mistake was not to call the cops right away because now she can argue that it was your fault... secondly you should have called your insurance company like yesterday!! so call them right away... and let them know the situation.. thats pretty much all you can do right now, this looks like its going to be a he said she said situation in where your gonna blame her and she's going to blame you good luck man!!
