Find answers to your legal question.

I always stick to the speed limit while driving. especially as i have not been past my test for 2 years yet?

But why is it that other drivers give me abuse and get annoyed at me for doing so?
Additional Details
I have past my test! Here in the UK you have what is like a probation period for 2 years after you have passed your test. If in that 2 years you get 6 points you are banned and have to retake your test.

They're just being arsey and impatient - you probably surprise them cos most people do speed, but it doesn't mean it's right - there is a limit for a reason, and how awful if you're doing 40 in a 30 and you kill someone cos you were going to fast to stop? Grim, but true.

I've only been driving 3 years, and at first I really used to feel under pressure to speed up when some idiot was right behind me, but now I always stick to my guns and don't give in to them... Infact, I find it quite funny - sometimes I go even slower than the limit just to p*ss them off.

It's always better to be late than never : )

its because they are sad and dont have enough control over their lives to get there on time or they are just morons who think speed is cool. just forget them the speed limits are set for a reason they are set to allow for the environment and the speed of human reactions. remember that the environment can change and as a result the speed limits have been known to change. but your reation time is only ever going to get slower as you get older.

People are in a rush, they know they only really need to stick to the limit when a speed camera is about so the rest of the time they usually like to go 10 - 20mph over the limit.

Don't let them get to you though, would you like a ticket becuase of somebody else you don't even know forced you to speed up?

I know the feeling, I am still on my 2year probationary period.

I just carry on driving within the legal limit and think that everyone else is in too much of a hurry to get into the next world.

Don't let the abuse get to you. Just smile sweetly as they pass as this tends to P**s people off more.

Dont worry about them you'll pass them oneday stuck in a wall you stick to the speed limit darling .
If they beep just go slower they'll learn.

Welcome to the world of non-speeders. Unfortunately I can't say I've never had a speeding ticket because I did last year through poor signposting but I paid it and am even more vigilant than before!!
Just try doing roundabouts in the correct lane, the abuse is incredible, and we have hundreds in and around Livigston!!
Just keep going and don't let them make you go faster, let them stew - the big problem with this is tail-gating but you concentrate on the front and sue the them for everything if they hit your bumper!!!

I think it's the "it'll never happen to me" mentality - they don't think about the fact that their speed could kill another person if something goes wrong.

I always do the speed limit through built-up areas, I have to admit that I'm not always as good as I should be on the motorway though. You have no idea how annoyed other drivers can get when you're doing the speed limit in a Subaru Impreza!

The drivers I most hate though are the ones who drive at 45 in a 60 or 50 limit and then don't slow down for 40 or 30 limits - it's worrying how people can be totally unaware of the road.

because some people are in a hurry when they dont have to be and like to speed. I can be guilty of that on occasion but im not mean to the other drivers.

Because they are idiots!!! I dont get why people speed off only to be slowed down by traffic lights???? One of lifes little mysteries!!

Same problem everywhere I'm afraid, but good for you. Don't be intimidated.

It's best to go with the speed and flow of the traffic I think. If you're going slow or on the limit just keep to the left so others can pass.

wow are you trying to say you havent passed your test? does this mean you are driving without a license? ... if thats what your saying, i would recommend getting that taken care of before you get caught and you lose your priviledge to drive for a very long time....

As far as the speeders go? ignore them just stay in the slow lane (the right one) .. and do what you know is right, they will pass and they will get over it.

Mike Hunt
Cause most people speed. As long as you stay out of their way and for the love of god, DONT USE THE LEFT LANE ON THE HIGHWAY, they shouldn't give you too much crap.

I'm not sure I understand part of your question. Are you driving without a license? If so, you really need to take care of that quickly. As for the speeders, I agree with just about all the other posters. Far too many drivers cop an attitude while driving. They seem to think that they have a right to drive as fast as they please. They also think, curiously enough, that speed limits don't apply in the "fast" lane. It's as if their brains shut down when they take the wheel. One tip: Stay in the right or "slow" lane unless you need to pass or turn left. Aside from that, keep observing the speed limit & driving safely. Don't let aggressive drivers bully you. Finally, do you keep a cell phone with you in your car? If so, you could call 911 if another driver really decided to get nasty.
BTW, keep cell phone conversation to a minimum while driving.

That would depend. If you're driving on a one lane road at the speed limit: people shouldn't abuse you. If you go in the fast lane on a motorway, when you're not overtaking anyone: then you're in the way for no good reason and are going to get abuse!

And to the person who said keep out the left lane of the highway: this is Yahoo UK. That means keep out of the right lane of the motorway, thicko.
