Do you have CDL. You can try Vocational Driving Schools. They will hire students that successfully pass. Most of them have a guarantee placement after completion. Any trucking business in the area of these Vocational schools solicit them for good drivers. I know this first hand knowing an instructor at a school in south Florida.. Hope this helps. For a commercial driver, an 18 year old is limited to intra state driving and most companies cross state lines at some point. For inter state driving, you must be 21 or older. The inconvenient part is that most insurance companies require 2 years experience. If you were to get your own insurance that might open a few doors. I say might because its an unconventional solution to the problem so employers won't know if they can accept it. It would make you look good to suggest it (it shows initiative). Try small delivery companies (maybe one that uses 1 ton pick ups) or a company that uses non CDL trucks or consider driving a school bus. Many school districts have their own CDL training programs. Jobs are out there but they will be hard to find. Good luck.

The reason you have to be 21 is because it's a federal law that you have to be 21 to drive interstate. It has nothing to do with experience.

When you get close to 21, go to truck driving school. They all have job placement assistance.

That has been my son's problem also. He went to school for heavy equipment operations for almost two months, and found that all employee's want experience. Can't blame them- you;ll be crawling in behind a very expensive piece of engine!
Anyway, he just personally went around to businesses and sites until he found just the right person to take him on. Turn on your charm, show your enthusisuisism, and just maybe you too will . He's operatering a huge piece of equipment in the coal mines but he loves it and it will take him in the right direction with experience! Best to you!!

Insurance may have a lot to do with it. A lot of insurance companies will charge higher premiums for teenage drivers and as a result it is not economic for companies to hire them.

Maybe if you talk to your local haulage yard, they may be able to help. At the very least you will seem keen and eager to work.

Join the military, they'll let you drive a truck or maybe even a tank.

Find a larger company that will hire and allow allow you to drive on their lot loading and unloading and get a lot of experience doing it this way, other than that I don't see a way.
