I am not the strongest guy, so I keep a gun in my car. What are the odds of my being caught?

Slim unless you go through a checkpoint and they thoroughly went through the car, then you'll be caught.

I have large screwdriver and a metal pipe in my car in case i need a weapon. This way if the police check they will think it's for the car.

Well first think of this: I drive a taxicab. There are times where I would love to have a gun under the seat. I have been doing this job 8 years and never carried a gun. THE REASON I don't carry a gun is because I'm more afraid I would use it at the wrong time. I carry a six cell mag light instead. It gets the job done. I would rather have my as_ kicked than shoot somebody and go to prison the rest of my life. Other than that, your chances of getting caught with the gun are probably pretty slim, but if you do get caught with it or use it at the wrong time, You're going to be in big trouble.

Get your concealed weapons permit and then it wont matter.

The last thing you wantt to do is pull out your gun against someone who also has a gun. Why not keep a baseball bat in your car instead? unless you live in USA where guns are available for anyone and everyone..

So you keep a gun in your car to protect yourself from criminals... now you also need to protect yourself from cops too.

Get your permit.. do some self defense classes. You don't need to be 200 pounds to defend yourself physically.

and lastly the most important is be as friendly as you can with ALL people.

The odds you will get caught are probably not that high but if you did get caught you are in a lot of trouble. Like the other answerer said I would get your permit. If an officer ever searches your car you have to tell him about it. It is much better for you if he knows something is there instead of being suprised. Also I am not one of those left wing "guns are bad" nuts, I own four guns myself and use them in the woods, however in a situation where you will need a gun the odds are the person you are facing will have one aswell and it makes your odds of being shot go up. My advice is to not be in an area where you might need one and just lock your doors.

well do u have a permit for the gun. Then dont worry its safe and if not i doubt a cop gonna stop you for having a gun unless you shoot it. Chances are slim

Wow! The chance is GREAT! I know this is for real since I teach a class where people chose to carry a weapon. It is a felony, class! They tell me they never thought they would be caught!!
If you say you are not a strong guy, the GUYS in prison will toss you around for sport and make you their boy toy.
Do not carry any kind of weapon and stay away from criminals. Get good friends and stay out of gangs. You may use it out of fear and kill someone and go to jail for a mistake or the criminal may use it on you!
Get counseling on the fact that you may have a control or fear disorder and need a better self-worth of yourself.

You are not a big guy so you keep a gun in your car? Do you know how stupid that sounds? If you aren't going out, looking for a fight, why would you even need a gun? I am a big guy and I lived in the 4th most dangerous city in America for 5 years. Not once did I ever feel like I needed a gun.

I've been driving in Southern California for 30 years. I have been pulled over four times. I have never had my car searched, nor have I ever had a reason to pull a gun on anyone. But if you ever get caught with a loaded gun in the car, you are probably in big trouble. The odds are good that you will never be pulled over, but the odds jump rapidly if even for one minute you stop concentrating. That's what happened to me six months ago when I got a speeding ticket driving through a speed trap that I knew was there and I drove through every day, seeing numerous people getting speeding tickets. You will be much better off leaving the gun at home and never ever doing anything to antagonize other drivers, and keep your doors locked in the shiitty parts of town. Guns and violence are the tools of the ignorant. Smart people avoid those situations in the first place.
