I only want to buy one tire. Tire shops say that's not good to mix and match even though same size.

Oh, you certainly can and even should, if you're looking for some nice holidays in the hospital..
Seriously, fit at least 2 identical (brand/model/ size) on each axle. Your tire guy knows what he's talking about, not like some fellows in this forum here. Even same size, the rubber composition vary between manufacturers, as a result, you might have one harder and another softer tire on the same axle, not speaking of different profile types (it rains from time to time, even where you live?).
I do not know, on which (f/ r) axle you blew the tire, but mixing on the front one makes it even worse.
But if you're a fan of "2fast 2furious- Tokyo- drift- stuff", then go ahead, save money and experience great adrenaline kicks! |

tire shops say that so that you will replace all of them whether you need to or not. however, you should replace both tires at the same time on duals |

Put the new (any brand-same size) tire on the front and one of the front ones in the rear so the diameter will be closer to the same as the others on the rear. The drive axle should have all tires the same. It doesn't matter on the front (in your case) as the front tires freewheel.
Tire shops will tell you all kinds of crap to get more tire sales, brother.
A guy in a tire shop once told me that the only difference between bias ply and radial tires was tread depth....HMMMM. |

Generally, anyone can use any brand of tyre as long as it's the
same size to fit the wheel. However, if you can, importantly get the same brand for the front two tyres, which have the similar treads and pattern to ensure better and safer road holding.

refer to the owners manual or look at the old tire tires have ratings for traction and weight so the answer is no unless you don't care about your safety and the safety of others |

listen to your tire man. you can muck things up if you dont use right tires. and different brand tires are made different, even tho same size. now is not the time to be frugal. unless you are planning on selling motor home, then buy cheap and only one. |
