This is really embarrassing to admit...but I paid 160 dollars for a secretary desk (not in the greatest condition). I tried to put it in my tiny ford escort. I put it in the trunk, and thought if I drove slowly it would be okay. It wasn't. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot, it fell out and smashed on the road. I drove away, but then returned to the scene, to make sure no one was hurt.
I feel like such a moron. There were pieces of wood in the road and I saw some guy cleaning it up. I feel so horrible. I spent almost 200 dollars for nothing and someone could have been seriously hurt (it was blocking the road). Should I go back and apologize? I am thinking I should just live with what I did. It was an accident, but a really stupid accident that I should have known would happen.
Help.

I agree. The only reason I didn't turn around and pick it up was because I couldn't. All I could do was drive in the other direction. The way the road is, it's two lanes, and once you turn onto the right lane, the only way to come back is to find a place to turn around and come back the other way, which I did. By then, someone was already cleaning it up.
I do feel really horrible about this.

at least no one got hurt, just put it down to experience, and remember not to take any more chances in the future.
If you ever see the person that cleared the road, then you could apologise,otherwise just get on with your life |
