I don't yield for SUVs... is this wrong?

I figure buying a massive truck that serves the same exact purpose as my mid-size sedan, except it's safer for them when they hit me... why? because i take the impact... that's a pretty selfish decision, not to mention environmental impact... and the general traffic hazrd, when standard drivers can not see around their bohemoths...

so i always always always make SUV drivers wait...

i must have passed 6-10 of them today trying to back out after a hockey game... i let all the cars go though.. because i am a considerate person... am i wrong?

If everybody stopped yielding for SUVs maybe those people would realize how selfish, unsafe, irresponsible, and rude their purchase was...

As an aside, would it be a good i dea to ticket SUVs parking in "compact car only" parking spots, and also charge them more on the interstate... the certainly put more wear on it...? we could use the fines/fees to counteract their environmental impact.. or buy more "jaws of life to peel out their victims.

I have a Honda Pilot and I always let the smaller guy go first because i know they can't see past me. I drive my husband's Nissan Sentra and I HATE when some big SUV or truck is in front pr parked on a corner and I can't see past it. It's dangerous! I don't think you're wrong. You're looking out for your safety. you so however sound a bit bitter though. PLease don't let you anger cause an accident. By the way, I purchased my honda pilot because it's the most fuel efficient (at the time) and safe for driving my kids around in. We will be moving to a hybrid toyota highlander soon. Not all SU V driver are inconsiderate and unaware of environmental issues.

Wow! At first, I just thought you were a totally self-rightous, self-absorbed, self-promoted know-it-all. Then, after reading all of your enlightening diatribe, I realized you have it all figured out, and you must always be right. You and Rush have something in common.

As for your vast knowledge on the larger SUV's, I feel it my duty to point out that you don't really know everything. I have a full-size Chevrolet pickup, that although is sourced for parts all over, still supports far more American jobs (remember, America, where you live?) than your import...yes, I'm sure you drive an import, has more power than an import, is more comfortable than an import, hauls more than an import (yes, I use my truck as a truck,) lasts as long as an import (167,000 and still going with essentially no trouble...and, Chevy beat Totoya overall this past year in the J.D. Powers quality satisfaction owner surveys,) and it gets as good or better mileage (routinely 17-19 highway, and as good as 23MPG!) In fact, Chevy is a leader in mileage, but the media is so damn biased against U.S. automakers, this somehow always gets left out. Import trucks and SUV's might claim better MPG, but they don't get it in the real world. Everyone I know that has one is disappointed with the power and the mileage of their import truck or SUV, except those that paid too much, and lie to themselves to feel better.

i am not a suv driver, but i honestly pray tonight that one of them will t-bone you tomorrow on your way to work and hospitalize you when you don't yield for them and they sue you for everything since you did not yield

I think you are reading too much into them. as far as yielding to one or not, What happens to you when you get run over?
1. you go to the hospital
OR
2. You at the least, have to deal with getting off the road and finding another ride.

While I do not like the large ones like the big Hummer, I still will not draw a line against them. When do you stop?

I think the companies that put out these behemoths should be paying environmental fines, plus the drivers should be paying more for tags and registration. (some states already do this)

As far as ticketing when the large suv's are in compact parking only...Absolutely, start with 100.00 fine and go up for each ticket thereafter.

A Vehicle that has size for a legitimate reason is OK. Like a pickup. An Escalade, VW Tourag, Range Rovers, these are inefficient space wasting vehicles that serve no purpose other than to let everybody know how much you earn and how insecure you really are.

I know what you mean. I know it may be a stereotype, but it seems like most people who drive big trucks or SUV's act like they can just push their way through traffic. If I'm driving in the fast lane and a truck comes bearing down on me from behind I've been known to sometimes put on my brakes. It's a huge pet peeve of mine if people tail you when you're already going several miles over the speed limit. I make a point not to act intimidated by them and get out of their way just because their stupid gas-guzzling truck is bigger than my Dodge Neon.

Yes they should be ticketed for compact parking - or any parking spot they don't fit in!!!

Hey, while we are at it, why not send them (SUV owners) to Iraq...Let them do a full day of war for each tank they intend to purchase over the life of ownership...if they underestimate - send 'em back!!!

Better yet, lets give tickets to any 7 passenger vehicle being operated by a single driver! Call it the road hog / gas guzzler / environmentally selfish a** ticket
