I got a sppeding ticket and i think the cop raised the speed so he could take my license..... what should i do?

I'm 16. When i was driving away from skool, i was going 40 MPH on a 25 MPH road. The cop claimed i was going 46 MPH in order to take my license. Now i have to appear in court.... WHAT CAN I DO?

If the police officer was using a radar gun you can ask to see the most recent date of the radar guns calibration and if not then use a friends GPS unit and compare the speed in your vehicle to the GPS because it is right on the mark, if all else falls just talk to the judge and explain this to him or her and dress nice.............good luck.

Reality check... the officer does not have to prove it. You have to prove that you weren't going that fast. You're thinking that you weren't going that fast is further proof that you didn't know how fast you were going. It will be his word against yours and unless you have some very good proof you're in deep do-do!

You either need to hire a lawyer or see if completion of traffic school will erase the ticket from your record. This type of ticket will stick wiht you for quite some time and will greatly affect the cost of insurance.

If your speedometer is inaccurate and you can prove it, you might get a break. A mechanic can check it or maybe you have the wrong size tires.
A cops speedo or radar must also be calibrated on a regular basis. If it has not been, you might get a break. If you feel the cop is just lying, nothing you can do.
