Im 19 yrs old I have had my liscense for a little over a year now. This was my first time being pulled over, no previous tickets or trouble with the police.

Well if he actually GAVE it to you for 64 in a 30, that's wreckless driving, you will lose your license for at least a year but if he didn't arrest you, he must have given it to you for a lot less. What does your ticket say? Either way, you're in for a huge fine and your already high insurance will skyrocket.

I don't know what the rules are in NY, but I live in Illinois. I'm 25 now, but 2 months after my 16th birthday I got a speeding ticket going 70 in a 45 and I had to pay a 95 dollar ticket, didn't have to go to court or anything. |

Due to the excessive speeding amount your license will be suspended for at least a year and it will be counted as a criminal offense. You are in for a rocky road. Sorry. It doesn't matter that it was your first offense. |

I also live on long island and when I was like 18 (26 now) I got caught doing 79 in an 80 (behind Tanger, no other traffic). Went to court (not before judge or anything) and basically there were like 20 other people there also with tickets and they called u each up by name, when they called me up they said they'd lower it to a 65 in a 40. Then you had to go to a window to write them a check to pay fine.
Anyways, I was told that I was very lucky, cuz I was clocked at 79, not 80. suppossedly if you go double the limit you lose your license (idk for how long). You were going more than double, so I doubt if they will even lower the speed/fines for you. That's automatic suspension. Good luck. Let this be a lesson learned -- no more speeding, i know i learned my lesson. |
