I got into an accident. It was my fault. What to expect in court?

I haven't had a ticket or an accident happen to me in a really long time. Its been about 9 years since my last one. What happened was i ran a red light driving my Owner's childcare bus to school as we were late. While swirving I hit another small car taking a right turn. I was on the owner's insurance. The police did give me a citation it has accident checked off on the box , and then it has failed to yield right of was checked off. I don't have any wittnesses from my side as the owner got there after the accident happened. The children were not hurt and neither was I. But the other car had its front top crushed. They have already contacted my owner's insurance company. I want to know what will happen to me when I go to court. It was a horrible mistake on my part running the light. I am already assuming my insurance is probably going to go up and I will have fines to pay. But other than that anything more serious? Any help would be appreciated. I am really scared as basically I am a good driver just being in a hurry caused me to make a bad judgement today.

I am still confused by the responses. The vehicle that I was driving was not my own but the Child Care Owner's School Bus. We were on our way to school, The other party has already contacted my owner's insurance. I am got a ticket though because I was the driver.. The vehicle is hers not mine. I just want to know because accident is checked off I have to appear at court but will I just pay a fine or is their more to it?

You ran a red light? You are a "good driver"? You ran someone down? You should face the LAW!

Well.
You Would Go to Court ONLY if the Victim Vouches for it, you might have to go For a hearing Or a special court date if the victim feels that He wants more out of you, If not, then you will Not have to go to court. your Insurance Will go up and You might have to pay for any Injuries that the Victim has Or will Have. Don't Worry Theirs NO Prison.. only a fine which you got

Might loose your license to drive children. At least you admit you were wrong. You may have to take the safe driving course and see film of what happens when you run a light.

Friendly Stranger..
Well that depends on if you are actually going to court. It seems that what you are saying is that the person that you hit is suing you for damages since the accident was your fault. If this is the case, then you will likely be fined as you said, and in court they will tell you your rights, and in this case you will likely have to pay a huge amount of money based on how much they are suing you for. Don't worry about going to jail. This isn't anything that you will go to jail for. It was an accident, and you didn't leave the scene. If you did leave the scene then you have committed a felony. But if you did not then you will be sued and you will have to pay out of pocket for the fines and the suing amount. Just pay for the damages and learn a lesson from this.

Your owner's insurance company should cover all of the damages to both vehicles. This is why we pay insurance. The citation will go on your driving record as well as the accident, so your rates will probably go up.

If you plead guilty, you should be able to just send in the money for the citation to the court (at least that's what we do in CA). In CA, we can also take traffic school once per year if we plead guilty to remove a citation from our record
