Find answers to your legal question.

I got into an accident with a city owned vehicle is that worse or the same as hitting a personal vehicle?

So the very day i get auto insurance and my first day ever driving I rear end a city bus when i accidently pressed the gas and not the brake. I called my insurance company as soon as i could get to a phone. They woman who took my info said someone would call me back. its been about two days now and no call. What are they going to call me for and how long does it usually take for them to get back to you?

also do i get in any different kind of trouble for hitting a city owned vehicle? the accident was not bad and no one was hurt. my car took all the damage. Since it was my fault will my insurance help to pay for the repairs? Im assuming no but i had ask.

thanks all in advance

oh and i was out practicing on a permit with my dad if that helps.

You'll have to pay the deductible, but your insurance should cover the rest. Since you caused the crash, you can expect your insurance payment to go up.

Unless you hit a school bus with its lights flashing or failed to yield to an emergency vehicle when it was on its way to an emergency, there is no additional penalty for hitting a city-owned vehicle.

If you don't hear back by Tuesday or so, you may want to give your insurance agent another call.
