I have 235/65-17 tires on my vehicle can i use 225/65/17?

they gave me brand new tires 225/65/17 and my vehicle uses 235/65/17 is it ok to use them

Yes you can use them, they are only 10mm narrower and about 6 or 7mm shorter than the 235/65-17's. Just check the sidewalls to make sure the load range (the weight the tire can take) is also comparable.
FYI: the first number is the tread width in millimeters; the second is the height of the sidewall, given as a percentage of the first measurement, or aspect ratio - 65% of 235, and the final number I'm sure you've realized is the rim size.
While it's ideal that all four tires match, it's not carved in stone. If you're going to mix tire sizes, just make sure that the front two are the same, and the rear two are the same -- think of hot rods, Indy/Formula cars, dragsters, etc. |

You can go up one size or down one size on the original rims. Most tire shops do not recommend going down a tire size but they will do it if you insist. |
