This will be dangerous in the winter if you know how to help please do.. There are not any lights illuminated on my dashboard

Sam J is absolutely right. Even with ABS, I'll go to a snowy, icy parking lot and hit them to get the feel. When I learned to drive almost 50 years ago, we were taught to pump the brakes on ice, and I still have to practice not pumping!

In this situation you should pump your brakes. It is a good idea to go to an empty parking lot or something and practice on the first snowfall so you know how your vehicle will handle

ABS was standard equipment in 97 on all of the GC's. You should feel a vibration in the brake pedal if the system is working and you stand on the brakes hard.

In the mean time, you'll need to learn to anticipate stops and pulse the brakes when you feel them lock up and drive slower in slippery conditions until you get the system repaired.

it may not have come with ABS. it may have been an option in that year. best thing to do is put winter tires on.

This is what I found for that vehicle and if you what to make sure just call you local jeep dealer and give them the VIN and they will be able to tell you if it did come with ABS brakes.....
