No, it is not an offence. The Highway Code pretty clearly states that you SHOULD reverse in and drive out of a driveway but does not make it mandatory to do so.

Yes (in the UK) - it is also an offense to reverse from a minor road into a major one.

Yes, it's true. If you reverse onto a main road your vision cud be obstructed by a garden hedge or front fence. You need to drive foward onto a main-er road so u can see things!!!

Technically, YES. But the cop would have to be having a REALLY bad day.....or you've just caused an accident!

It is an offence to reverse from a MINOR road (ie. your driveway) onto a MAJOR road. Perfectly legal to do it the other way round.

If you have to reverse off your drive you should approach the manoever carefully
Section 177 of the highway code states:
Do not reverse from a side road into a main road.
When using a driveway reverse in and drive out if you can.

it is always better to reverse into the driveway so that you can come out of the drive onto the roadway with more visibility

You'll probably never get pulled by the police for it. But if someone did run into you, it would be deemed your fault and your insurance would have to pay up.
