My daughter failed 7 times through nerves and she is gonna answer this for you...she failed because of nervousness too!
All I can say is practise and practise in the area you will be taking the test in. Nerves will be nerves. But if you have driven through that same area again and again at least that won't make you nervous.
Some examiners are better at understanding nerves.
Sometimes it helps to talk through what you are going to do out loud so the examiner at least knows what's in your mind...this also helps if you are feeling confused because of nerves.
I have at last passed my driving test and you will too! |

oh hun! big hugs to you. i know what its like - took me three attempts to pass - and just like u i was fine in the lessons but nervy at test. you'll just have to do it again - it will be better second (or third!!) time around!
plus, if yr instrcutor is from a company (rather than on his/her own) why dont u ask for a difft instructor to do a lesson with - someone new may make u feel nervy again and u can see how u get on. part of your ease in lessons is bcos u know your instructor. getting used to driving with a stranger (not advisable in stiuations other than this...!) might help ease that part of the test when it comes around again.
good luck, jo!

I get REALLY nervous and I only got mine on my third try. I can't offer you any advice really except to say that you mustn't give up.
Good luck! |

I know how you feel, i forgot where the horn was when the examiner asked me to show him. The best advice i think is to just think 'if i pass, i pass, if i dont, then i'll try again' At the end of the day, it is just a driving test. Its not life threatening, just give it another go. Good luck for next time. I failed mine
twice in 1988 and passed my 3rd time in 2005. and believe me, it only gets harder. so go for it. you CAN do it |

I failed the first time too,and was really upset. the only positive thing I can think of is that it`s easier the next time because you know what to expect. |

Honestly don't worry!!! I failed mine 3 times before i eventually passed and even on the last go i was just as nervous as the other times! Just like you, i had tried the kalms and rescue remedies and they never worked for me either.. my best advice for you would be when you're on your test, just pretend you're on another lesson but just with a different instructor, it will help! |

Learn how to fly a plane in one of those flight simulator games, accomplish a landing. Once you are OK with taking off and landing planes in the game (or simulation if you want to call it that), get back to driving. You'll be amazed how easy driving a car is after you fly lol. (All these controls on an aircraft, you will get used to it, when you jump back to the car, you'll see that it's really easy and you won't get as nervous as much) |

It's normal to be nervous when taking your driving test and the examiners are supposed to take that into account.
You didn't fail the test because of nerves, you failed because you made mistakes. A lot of people fail the first time including myself - 4 attempts before passing. The examiner should complete a sheet with those mistakes and hand it to you. If you haven't got it get in touch with the test centre and ask for a copy.
Then practice the maneovres you failed on with your instructor until you get them right. If you can get some additional practice as an 'L' plate driver with a qualified driver supervising you (must have had a full licence for at least 3 years) so much the better.
Get your instructor to put you through a 'mock' test. This is good practice and will help to iron out any problems.
Before the test make sure you get a good night's sleep and have a good breakfast on the morning. Don't take any drugs or alcohol!
The good thing about taking the test again is that second time around you know what to expect so it shouldn't be half as nerve-wracking. A good examiner will help put you at your ease.
Good luck. |

You need a mind set the next time you take your test. BE THE TEST. Put your total concentration on the test and pass it. Don't let any outside turbulance throw you off your mission. Use the force as they said in Star Wars. You can do it You owe it to yourself. And don't let the test instructor make you nervous he is only observing and you can probably drive better than him. |

Look, failing your driving test is not abnormal. Try again, you'll be okay.
Just relax, relax, relax. |

My wife passed her test eventually after a fair few attempts because like you she was a bag of nerves every time she went in for it. It got to the point though, where she had failed so many times, she kind of expected to fail and by doing so, lost her anxiety at doing the test in the first place, so then she passed - I know it's easy to say for someone else, but just chill out - It's not important enough to get yourself worked up - keep this in mind and you'll pass, coz it sounds like you are trying too hard |

Don't worry, it really happens more than you think. My sister and I both failed our first driving tests. You are going to be nervous and the tester knows this. Just try to relax and do your best.
Good Luck!! |

Maybe try getting a friend of one of your parents our something (who you don't know very well) to go through a mock test with you?
I haven't done mine yet but its coming up - so scared! |

I hope this method helps because it worked for me on my test and I passed on the first try.
Don't use any drugs of any kind to help with nerves because they will only make them worse. No caffeine etc.
Drink a medium glass of orange juice before the test. Then talk with the tester ask them about their day and about their family if they have any. A calm tester makes a calm test taker. Most testers don't even want to be there and it is no use expecting them to like it. If you make a mistake, don't get scared, tell the tester, that normally the instructor says that you would pass and you just can't understand what is happeneing today. They will assume that it is simply their presence making you nervous and they will go easy on you. |

just think along these lines
the examiner is a long term friend and you are giving him a lift to see his elderly mother
give him a comfortable ride
remember if it was not for the likes of you he would be on the dole you pay his wages
try not to think of it as a test but as a ride out
good luck hope you pass next time |

Try to remember that the test is not difficult to pass, it is just really easy to fail. Deep breaths, convince yourself that its just another lesson (which it kinda is) and take everything slowly. My daughter was very nervous too but adopted this advice and sailed through. Good luck. |

Just don't think about it. That's what i did on my drivers test. Don't let the fear of failing overpower you. Just do what you are told to do, and don't think about failing. Think about something Else that wont distracted you. |

Try asking your local herbalist for something. |

Drink 3* shots of vodka right before you go in to the DMV. They should kick in by the time you are called for the test.
* +- depending on your weight. |
