Depends on which sate you were in. If the driver did not claim both of you could be charged. Depending on the amout of marijuana it could either be a misdemeaner. More than a small amout it could be a felony. With a misdemeaner you could have a fine. If a first time offence probably no jail time. May be put on probation. You need to know who you ride with. Even though the drugs are not yours you can be charged with them. It is best to ride with people you know. |

Jail time for you if you were driving your friend's car. If your background checks out okay & you weren't driving, & you didn't know the marijuana was there, they will probably let you go home. DIdn't I just see you on COPS recently? LOL |

If it wasn't your's plead not guilty. If the driver says it wasn't his, the evidence shows that more probably than not it was his. But you'll need a lawyer. If youi can't afford one, and you don't qualify for a public defender, call the nearest law school and ask them if they have a criminal law clinic. It is staffed by law student's who work for free under the guidance of a criminal law professor. Believe it or not, they usually do really good work. |

Nothing. If the car belongs to the driver and the weed is IN the car, not on someone, then it's the driver's weed regardless of who bought it/smoked it. Unless you were picked up for being under the influence of a controlled substance, which it sounds like you weren't, the only person in trouble is the owner of the car. |

You have to prove to the judge that you didn't know it was there. If you didn't do anything wrong, then you should be in no trouble. Make sure your buddy driving the car doesn't try to pin the dope on you. |
