I was with my boyfriend like an hour ago, and so i asked him if i could drive, i dont have a license or a permit, we got pulled over and i have to go to court for it and pay a fine..does anyone know the cost? or what i should expect..? also i told him i had my permit in florida..but i don't, i'm sure the cop noticed when he tried to look at my driving record..

If the officer put in his statement that you told him you have a FL permit & you lied, then you could be facing another misdemeanor charge of providing false information to a law enforcement officer once you get to court.
And you may get lucky. If this is a first offense, you may get the Misdemeanor reduced to an Infraction, although the false statement, may piss off the judge if he knows about it. If the officer or the judge doesn't ask you about your FL permit, then don't offer any information voluntarily about that false statement you made to the officer.
If you are charged with the Misdemeanor you are looking at a fine of approx $380 (unless the fine amount has changed).
And if you get lucky and the judge reduces the charge to an Infraction, then you are looking at a fine of approx $298 (again, unless the fine amount has changed).
This is also going to make it much harder for you to obtain a license now, especially if you are under 18. |

I suppose it's a misdemeanor in US. In some European countries it's a felony or even a crime and you can expect imprisonement for that, for up to 3 years and also being forbidden to ever own a driver's license. |

California vehicle code 12500 makes it illegal, and a misdemeanor, to drive without a valid license on any highway in California.
A person cited for driving without a valid license in CA may be punished by probation, time in county jail, and fines of up to $1000 plus surcharges.
