I just got a speeding ticket. How do I get this taken care of without having my insurance go up?

I live in west of Houston in Texas. I got a speeding ticket for going 50 in a 35. I was only going with the flow of traffic and was the slowest car on the road. The section where I got pulled over is an 8 lane wide road with close to a mile between stop lights. Most of the cars were going about 60 around me. One car was going at least 70. I know that doesn't probably help my case, but because I saw the cop pull into on coming traffic (which I was suprised because the traffic was kind of heavy) I knew that he was going after us, so I ducked into the first apartment complex, and I parked and saw the cop drive by, slam on the brakes then reverse (this cop drove so crazy I think he had a death wish). But anyways I got the ticket, but if I had chose a spot a little bit further back wouldn't have, but that's how it goes. My question is, how can I take care of this without having my insurance go through the roof since I'm under 25. I know I can't fight it in court because I won't win.

Some states offer a program in which you pay a fee, and if you don't get any other tickets within a certain amount of time, the ticket you got won't go on your record. It's a minor form of extortion, but if it means it won't show on your record, and subsequently raise your insurance, better check into it.

Well for a ticket usually even if if goes on your record your insurance won't go up unless you try to change companies and they pull up your record again then they will give you a higher quote. One of my friend's dad got a DUI and his insurance did not go up...he just sticked with the same company. I have a ticket on my record that I got last year and my insurance hasn't gone up either, actually it keeps going down :)

I really don't know how it works in Texas, but I recently got a ticket for 75 in a 45 and I checked out ticketassassin.com. Its only available for California but read some of the info it may help. It will tell you how to avoid going to court but resolving your ticket. I sent in a written declaration and the officer didn't send one in so my case was dismissed. Good Luck.

When one gets a speeding ticket, one usually has to pay the penalty plus cough up all the extra insurance it costs. However, it would be worth asking the judge if you have no past tickets if he/she would put you on 6 months probation, and if you don't have another ticket in the next 6 months, it won't go on your record thus making your car insurance skyrocket! If you do speed and get caught again, then you would have to "pay the pauper." You'll still have to pay the court costs even if the judge is willing to put you on probation; however it's cheaper in the long run due to insurance escalating. I've gone to court with some young people where I live in Oklahoma, and begged of the judge that since the young adult had no priors, to please grant a 6 month probation. He did 3 times to 3 different young people and not one of them let me down, plus they learned how to be assertive. Be assertive, well dressed, mannerly, use the terms ma'am and sir when necessary, and be on time. Also don't run out when you get your probation request--walk slowly out the door, then run to your car you'll be so excited. But at least try this, and if you win, then you'll have learned a valuable lesson.

Go to the court and tell them you want to go to traffic school. There will be a fine for the ticket and a school fee but the ticket does not go on your record as far as insurance is concerned. It will only show up for police depts. and the court the next time you get a ticket.

go to court, delay it as much as possible and hope the pig doesnt show up....you shouldnt have gotten off the hwy that made you look guilty

I'm sorry, but you lose. This is a moving violation, speeding more than 10 mph over and you're getting points on your license and your insurance will very likely go up as a result. At least go out and get the longest term of insurance you can afford before it hits your record -- you know, at the lower price while it lasts. Again, sorry. Slow down.

Well, in Illinois you can take a traffic class if it is your first offense. If you take the class it won't go on your record which could raise your insurance. My sister did this before. So, I suggest finding out if your state has this option.

You can have the points removed simply by taking a driving course, many of which are now offered online. A bunch of good ones are offered at www.amerciansafetycouncil.com, including one called Texas online traffic school. You can get the points removed and keep your insurance down. It's not too expensive, and way better than having to go to a class or pay super high premiums. Good luck and I hope this helps!
