my partner works for a local coach company mainly travelling to london and rochdale uk.
the air con on the bus is busted (for us common sense people the bus should never be on the road if has a fault) heat on the bus is sometimes rising to 30-40 degrees. if bus is this high do u think the driver should pull over now and again to let passengers off for breath of fresh air??
this is a continuing argument in my household. who is at fault driver or company?

Well if I was travelling on that bus I think those sort of temperatures would make me feel sick. I would want to get off. If I was the driver the heat could make me tired and sleepy, not a good thing on a busy motorway with abus full of peeps. I think it should definately be taken off the road and fixed. |

the company is in the wrong for not fixing the problem,
you're husband is in the wrong for taking the vehicle out.
until he refuses to work in it they will not get it fixed

when l worked for local bus company it was the drivers responsibility to check the bus, any problems were listed in a log and then rectified, if the driver wasn't happy that repairs were not carried out successfully then he would simply refuse to take that vehicle out onto the highway. l still think that the vehicle and the passengers safety are the responsibility of the driver. |

that could be a dangerous situation with heat stroke or even death. Especially, with the elderly and people with various medical conditions. I would suggest to give people a breather and let them off the bus once in a while especially if the temperature is 30-40 degrees higher inside the bus. |

I AM SINGLE, I REFUSED TO DRIVE A VAN FOR A WELL KNOWN PARCEL DELIVERY COMPANY IN PLYMOUTH (NIGHT FREIGHT) THAT HAD NO MOT. AS I HAD NOT BEEN THERE LONG I LEFT AND THE NEXT DAY THE VAN, WHICH WAS BEING DRIVEN BY NEW EMPLOYEE, WAS BROUGHT IN WITH THE PROP SHAFT COMING THROUGH THE FLOOR OF THE CAB AND THROUGH ROOF. I KNOW AS I WAS WORKING NEXT DOOR FOR A WINDOW DELIVERY COMPANY. PROBLEM IS THERE ARE TO MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE TOLD TO DRIVE IT OR LEAVE WHO DRIVE AS IS TO KEEP JOB. I CONTACTED LOCAL POLICE OF SITUATION ASKING THEM TO VEHICLE CHECK ON SITE SO NOT TO HAVE REASON TO PROSECUTE DRIVERS.. THIS THEY DID AND FOUND OVER HALF THE VEHICLES UN ROADWORTHY.
THE SUB FRANCHISED COMPANY WAS HEAVILY FINED AND LOST THERE FRANCHISE. THE POLICE CHECKED ALL VEHICLES BEFORE THEY LEFT SITE AND HIRE VANS AND HGV LORRIES USED..
FIRST OF ALL IS HE IN A UNION? IF SO GET THEM INVOLVED
THE BEST THING YOUR PARTNER CAN DO IS GET AS MANY AS HE CAN TO COMPLAIN
AND DRIVE WITH ROOF AND WINDOWS OPEN IF THEY DO AND STOP NOW AND AGAIN AS REQUIRED
IF ITS BEEN REPORTED THEN IT CANT BE THE DRIVERS FAULT (HELPS TO HAVE A WITNESS)
ITS THE COMPANIES FAULT
BUT THEY COULD BE WAITING FOR A PART OR THE VEHICLE TO BE OFF ROAD LONG ENOUGH
I WOULD BE ASKING THE CHARGE HAND HOW MUCH LONGER BEFORE IT GETS SORTED |
